Who Gets the App?
Lily Ames, 25 year old jogger
The sun had just begun to cast its morning glow over the quiet suburban streets as I laced up my running shoes. Tapping my phone, I swiped until I found my Spotify playlist. Digging into my pocket, I pulled out my case, put my earbuds on, and felt the pop music coursing through my veins. Nothing like good music to help start your day. I bounced on my feet before I started to jog down the pavement.
As I jogged down the pavement, my body warmed up, my muscles awakening with each stride. The rhythm of my feet hitting the ground matched the tempo of the pulsating beats in my ears. The fresh morning air filled my lungs, invigorating me as I pushed myself forward.
As I passed by a local park, my eyes caught sight of a group of joggers stretching and warming up. Pausing my jog, I couldn't help but think about Jenny. We would sometimes join jogging groups or hang out at our favorite cafe. Jenny and I were friends. It was a good friendship. Then, those four girls stole Jenny from me. Now, she does her workout with them in the local gym. The worst is that the place is way out of my budget.
I tapped on the next song and smiled as the Taylor Swift song eased my tension. I increased my pace and continued down the familiar route. The sun climbed higher in the sky, casting a warm glow that filtered through the leaves of the trees lining the street. I decided to take a detour and made a left that would eventually lead me toward the downtown area. Maybe a change of scenery would help clear my mind.
As I jogged toward downtown, the suburban landscape slowly transformed into a more urban setting. The quiet streets gave way to the sounds of traffic, distant chatter, and the occasional car horn. Tall buildings loomed ahead, their reflective surfaces catching the sunlight.
But I couldn't stop thinking about Jenny.
What did those girls say about me? That I dress too sexy? That I would hit on and fuck any guy? Why couldn't Jenny talk to me before she ghosted me?
As I ran, my mind drifted back to the times Jenny and I had shared. The laughter, the secrets, the late-night conversations. How could she just abandon our friendship like that? It felt like a punch to the gut, leaving me breathless and betrayed.
That's when I felt a vibration in my leggings. I opened my phone, thinking it was a fitness notification for the amount of steps I took. However, I raised my eyebrow when I saw a new app I didn't remember downloading and its notification.
Congratulations! You have been selected for the ActionsTrader beta test! You can now start trading!
Weird.
I tapped on the notification to open the ActionsTrader app. The interface was sleek, and I found myself exploring its features. The app seemed straightforward — trade one action for another in the mind of a selected target. I wasn't sure how legit the app was, but it was already on my phone, and I saw no harm in exploring further. I clicked on the first option called 'Target'.
To my surprise, I saw a list of names and pictures that kept changing. I glanced up at the sidewalk at the people on the sidewalk and at the list of the people on my phone screen. They were exactly the same. What kind of app was this?
I clicked on a random person named Susan Peters and saw her picture. Looking around, I found a woman who looked like the woman on the profile, down to the last detail. She wore business attire and was on her phone while waiting by a bus stop. Wow, okay, they're the same women. I wonder what I can do?
There were a few options along the Top: New Trades, Current Trades, and Trades History.
I twirled a strand of my hair as I checked out the "New Trades" section to see what kind of trades I could make. The New Trades window opened and showed a list of "suggested trades from current activity". The ones on the top were the actions she was doing right now, like standing, waiting for the bus, ignoring people, being professional, checking emails, and texting on the phone.
As I scrolled through the app, an idea popped into my head. What if I could use this app to influence the actions of the people around me, just like Jenny's actions had been influenced by those girls? It was a risky and questionable thought, but I wanted to understand Jenny's sudden change in behavior and regain control. This app was the only way to get close to her.
And get **** on those four girls.
A question mark showed in the bottom right corner of the screen. When I tapped on it, a small pop-up appeared on the screen.
"ActionsTrader is a revolutionary new app that lets users trade an action for another. Simply select a target and chose an action to trade. Once a trade is successful, the target will perform the chosen new action whenever they would usually perform the original one. The target will always remain unaware of any change, having toward the new action the exact same mindset as toward the original one. Beware: This also means that the original action will now be perceived in the same way the new action was before the change."
Alright, Lily, go big or go home. Time to see if this app was the real deal.
Putting my worries and fears aside, I selected a trade for Susan Peters:
Trade Selection:
Original Action: Keeping Herself Busy.
New Action: Keeping Herself Horny.
I chuckled. Maybe that was a bit immature, but I needed something obvious.
A cost showed up: 15 AB.
I checked the app and saw that I had 100 AB. Tapping the affirm button and spending 15 AB, I saw that the Keeping Herself Busy <=> Keeping Herself Horny trade was listed under my current trades.
As the trade went through, I couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement. I watched eagerly as Susan's demeanor started to change. The once-composed and focused business woman suddenly seemed more fidgety and flushed as she sat down. Her fingers tapped her thigh repeatedly and she shifted uncomfortably in her seat.
Susan subtly began to cross and uncross her legs, her underwear briefly showing. Her checks blushed as she glanced around. With her hand holding her phone, she kept her eyes on it as she discreetly slid her other hand beneath her skirt.
A hushed moan escaped her lips, drawing the attention of those around her. She didn't seem to mind, to her this was the byproduct of working. Interestingly, the other people didn't mind that Susan was openly masturbating in full view. To them, she was a businesswoman working and her current actions wasn't weird.
I checked the ActionsTrader app to see what she was doing, probably going through Instagram or watching porn if she was that invested in being "busy". However, the ActionsTrader app said that she was still Texting Colleagues on the Phone. I guess the app didn't swap everything relating to Susan's work, only that being horny is being busy and vice versa.
Does Lily continue to mess with Susan? Find someone else to mess with? Start plotting her ?
