Lil wakes in the middle of the night

Lillian Menard shifted uncomfortably and woke to find herself curled up in one of the living room chairs. She sniffed. A hint of smoke, whiffs of beer and booze. And sex. She rolled her shoulders and smiled. It had been really fun watching Gary get it on with Stuart and his crew of sketchy hangers-on. Though they were all pretty nice to her and really seemed to like Gary. She smiled, remembering how they joked about him driving cautiously like a little old lady. But that was why Gary got to drive Stuart's van while he was away. She shook her head. The van was a weird old thing with a mattress in back and surf scenes painted all over the outside. But Gary had let her crank up her new Billy Royce album and the sound was pretty decent.

Lil's feet were cold where they stuck out from the blanket. Blanket? She guessed Gary or someone noticed she was asleep and tossed it over her. It was dim in the living room, a little light filtering in from the kitchen. It had finally cooled off after the long hot day and evening and it was almost chilly here downstairs.

Lil turned on the table lamp next to the chair. It looked like things had been tidied a little but not really cleaned. The floor mattress was still in the middle of the room with a double layer of towels in the center. That had been something to watch Gary and Bernie together. And even more, watching Gary going up Stuart's butt. Her cheeks felt warm, remembering Gary on top of Stuart, Gary's buttocks pumping, his face flushed and his expression distant with pleasure as he thrust in and out of Stuart's ass. Somewhere in the middle of watching all that, she had given herself an O and crashed out. She blinked, head a little fuzzy, her mouth tasting off. Maybe she'd had something to drink or smoke? On her way back through the living room she noticed a big suitcase sitting in the hallway. Another one. With big pink luggage tags from a cruise line.

Mom and Dad were home.

Lil didn't even know what that might mean. They weren't expected for days yet. Did they walk in on the party? She had a moment of dizziness, then shrugged and walked up the carpeted stairs toward her bedroom.
