Lift Conversation

I did graduate the kid's slope. With Kaylee’s careful guidance, I even managed to do a decent job getting down my first beginner's slope. I had to admit, once I got past all the falling, I was having a lot of fun. It was exhausting but fun. I was glad I didn’t make a complete fool of getting on the lift up.

Kaylee sitting beside me, I watched her from the corner of my eye. She was smiling happily, watching her breath form a giant white cloud in front of her. I looked forward, trying to see where the top was.

“How long is this ride?”

“Mmm. ‘Bout seven minutes?”

“Seven minutes!”

“We’re on a mountain silly. This is an older lift, so it doesn’t go that fast. The newer slopes have faster lifts… though the trails are longer.” She shrugged. “It’s not a bad thing. It’s a nice break and a great view.”

My eyes didn’t leave her. “Yeah, it is.”

I don’t think she realized I was talking about her. No matter. I was enjoying the view regardless.

She suddenly turned, looking at me. “I know what we can do!” I waited for her to tell me. “Questions and answers!”

“Oh.”

“Don’t get excited all at once,” she said with a pout. “We are dating now, right? Even if we’ve been friends a while, there are a lot of things we don’t know about each other.”

“Sure, sounds fun.”

“Okay, I’ll start. When did you lose your virginity?”

“Wow. You are starting with that one?”

She laughed. “What were you expecting? What’s your favorite color?”

“Kinda.”

She shook her head. “So?”

‘Still a virgin’ wasn’t an option. I know it was stupid, but I was afraid what Kaylee might think about that. It was easy enough to fib something. “Seventeen.”

“Late bloomer?” She nodded to herself. “That does seem like you.”

“Yeah? What about you?”

“Fourteen,” she said without hesitation. “But you probably already knew that.”

“Why would I know that?”

She looked at me. “Have you looked at my partner history?”

I wasn’t going to lie about that, but I felt a bit sheepish. “Yeah.”

“Well, you can see from there.” She didn’t seem concerned one bit with what I knew.

“I didn’t look too closely.”

She shook her head. “We are getting sidetracked a bit,” she said, quickly changing the topic. “Favorite position?”

“Are these all going to be questions about sex?”

“I can’t help that you still haven’t filled out your Preference Profile.”

I sighed. “I don’t know. I’m not too experienced…”

“I’m sure we’ll find some together,” she said with a warm smile.

Thinking of a question, I was about to ask what her biggest pet-peeve was when something else bubbled to mind. This was probably a bad time to bring it up, but I’d never found a chance to earlier. “Kaylee, Paige showed me a video of you and James on the bus.”

Her eyes widened slightly, but she didn’t seem surprised. So she did know about it. Of course she did. She looked right at the camera. “Ah. Yeah. She wasn’t supposed to show you that…”

“So you’re okay with it?”

She rubbed her nose and fiddled with her hat. “I don’t know how I’m supposed to answer that.” I thought it was a fairly straightforward question. Yes if she was, no if she wasn’t. “I mean, I know it exists and I’m not worried about it getting out if that’s what you're asking. It’s uh… It’s not the only video of me.” She sighed. “Full disclosure? I’ve recorded myself having sex a few times. Most of them are private and only I have them but a few weren’t recorded by me. I have a copy of them, but I’m not the only one with it. I don’t think they have been circulated around, but I have no way of knowing for sure.”

“I see,” I said, looking down. I felt a sense of vertigo from the height.

“Do you want to watch one?”

A burst of panic ran through me. “Now?”

She burst out laughing. I blushed, feeling stupid. “No, idiot. Later.”

“I don’t know, Kaylee. That—”

“Tonight before bed,” she interrupted. “I’ll let you pick and you can watch as much or as little as you want.” I studied her for a moment. “What?”

“Why are you so enthusiastic about showing me?”

Looking thoughtful, she hummed to herself as she considered the question. In the end, she shrugged. “It seems like fun? I’ve never had anyone watch one, so I’m kinda curious.” She leaned against me, causing our chair to rock slightly. “The more I think about it, the hotter it sounds. My boyfriend watching my sex videos.” Her smile grew as my cheeks heated. “Who knows? Maybe we’ll make our own sometime?”

I think steam was coming out of my ears. Never. Never in a million years.

“Anyways!” she said as she grabbed my arm. “Questions!” She thought for a moment. “I’ll give you an easy one. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be…?”
