Chapter 37 by zenxraider zenxraider

Do you give chase to the fleeing thief or head back to regroup with the girls?

Let him go, but leave a little present.

You decide you'll let him take his getaway, giving him a little sense of security and content with letting the self-proclaimed master thief lick his wounds for now, but not without some insurance. Reaching into your pocket, you conjure up a tiny radio transmitter whose signal was linked to your scroll. Pooling aura into your legs, you leap into the air and manage to slap the device securely to the Bullhead's hull before they're able to fly out of range. Pleased with your work so far, you tumble back to earth with a graceful backflip and pull out your scroll to dial Yang.

"Hey Lover Boy! What's the occasion?" comes her cheerful answer.

"Hey gorgeous. We made it to the rally but Blake got found out. Had to cut it short so she could slip away."

"Is she alright?" Yang asks with worry.

"She's fine, they never got to her but I think you should know that Torchwick was leading this little get together."

"Yeah, that does make sense. Ruby and one of her new friends helped Blake and Sun stop a cargo robbery a few weeks back. Torchwick was running that operation too. Did you catch the snake?"

"He gave me the slip but I managed to slap a tracking device on his bullhead. He's also got a hole burned into his gut."

"Ouch. How'd you manage that one?"

"Caught him by surprise. He was giving a speech and his aura was down. How'd things go on your end?"

You can hear the frustration in her voice.

"Junior's useless," she spits out. "He did nothing but dodge my questions and deny any further involvement."

"Makes sense," you comment with a hum. "If I was Torchwick, I'd want to keep all my loose ends easy to tie up which means keeping my associates on a need-to-know basis. Which reminds me; what was he having him do?"

"Small stuff, mostly borrowing some goons here and there. Apparently Torchwick jumped ship afterwards so their deal came to a halt."

"Ok. I'll pay him a visit later. Maybe I can squeeze some more information out of him. In the mean time, link up with Blake and give her a ride back to school. I'm gonna follow our little swindler to his hidey-hole and scout the place. I'll check back in later."

"Sounds good. Have fun, Lover Boy!"

"Always."

As you disconnect the call and pull up a tracking app, you discover a newfound appreciation for subterfuge and spy-play. Showing as a red marker on the screen was your little radio, leading you directly to Torchwick's base of operations. Nestled within the far west end of the Industrial District near the coast and hidden in plain sight amongst other similar buildings, it came as no surprise why the local police have had such a difficult time finding this guy.

You picture in your mind's eye the building Torchwick had escaped to and promptly warp to its location. Touching down lightly towards the back end of the warehouse, you extend your senses to the interior to find this place also bustling with White Fang activity but unlike the rally site, this one had far more weapons and Dust ready for immediate use. It was as if the guy was fielding a second Faunus revolt. As you continue your search, you note the peculiar absence of Cinder and Mercury. Good; you didn't want them interfering this little business meeting. Finally, in a separate room you surmised to be his bedroom, you find Torchwick being tended to by his right-hand woman.

How do you stage your grand appearance?
