Let him drink at the bar

Kayla looked at Jason as he towered above Stuart. He must have been at least six inches taller and so much more muscular, not to mention better dressed. A part of her wanted him to stay at the bar and spend some time with her. "One bud coming up" she replied before grabbing a bottle from the fridge.

"So...." began Stuart, struggling to find a topic of conversation that wouldn't be turned round on him like Jason had so many times in the past "drinking alone tonight?"

"Nah, I'm meeting a girl off Tinder. A gentleman always turns up first and all that"

"Tinder.... well if you can't meet a girl in real life" said Stuart, attempting to mock Jason. Mocking his bully turned into one of Stuart's less smart plans as Jason dug his thumb further into the gap below his shoulder blade, causing Stuart to wince in discomfort.

"Look, I can come into a pub like this and have any woman I choose" his eyes lingered on Kayla for a moment too long, making it clear he was meaning her "but Tinder.... well for someone like me it's like a takeaway menu... which one will shall I have tonight? So many choices..." And with one final laugh and squeeze of Stuart's body he grabbed his beer and sat down at a nearby table.

"Ha! I can't wait to see what sort of girl would be interested in a guy like him" whispered Stuart to Kayla as soon as Jason was out of earshot.

Kayla felt a sense of guilt knowing that the Stuart's little sister was the sort of girl that would be interested in Jason. To avoid giving anything away with her body language she bent down to unload the dishwasher when an unnatural hush fell on the pub. Fearing that she was somehow the centre of attention for everyone in the pub she slowly rose back up to find out why silence had taken hold of the pub.
