Chapter 5
by hematoma
It's your call, captain. Fight or flight. What should you do?
Let Scugg catch up and blast his ship's soft underbelly
"Jen," you say, turning to the Amazonian. "Get to the weapon's nest. Keep the guns powered down until we're at point-blank range. Goob, do what you have to do to divert power to the weapons. We're going to hit them where it hurts."
"Captain, I don't-" Sypharra begins, but you hold up a hand to quiet her.
"We don't have time. I've made up my mind."
The crew heads to their stations and you feel the intertial simulators suggest the ship is slowing. Your breasts jiggle as the ship slows. A moment later you feel the thump as hull is struck by a grapple beam. You slow more. Goob warns that the power has been diverted. A second grapple beam hits the hull and Sypharra reports mild engine damage from the **** of the beam.
"Steady," you say. "Jen..."
"Not yet," she whispers into the intercom. "Not yet...not yet..."
Proximity alarms begin to sound on the bridge consoles as the Malevolent Bastard overtakes your small ship and looms above you. You can imagine its cargo bay doors opening as it prepares to pull you in like a warthog devouring a morsel.
"Now! Give me all the power you've got!"
Goob hoots that he is transferring power and the lights flicker at the sudden change in the elctrical system. A moment later the ship shakes as Jen fires the rocket pods straight up and into the exposed cargo bay of the Malevolent Bastard. All of the rapid-fire turrets open up as well, stitching laser tracers up and into the cargo bay. You feel a thrill of excitement as you realize the plan has worked.
Shields flash blue and the rockets explode harmlessly against the energy barriers. The tracers are even less effective, barely causing a static ripple in the Malevolent Bastard's superior shields.
"No effect," Sypharra says.
The fate of you and your crew has probably just been sealed, you realize as the grapple beams draw the Velvet Hammer into the huge cargo barge's bay. Any hope of fighting your way out is dashed as power dampeners shut down your electrical systems and two dozen hoggy, green Gorbonian guards rush into the cargo bay and surround your ship.
Rather than have them cut their way in you signal a surrender and open the hatch. The piggy troopers waddle into your precious ship, knocking over spare parts and stomping through your personal quarters. Jen tries to fight them, blasts one in the chest with a sidearm. You try your sword. It's no use. They have stun prods and they quickly subdue you and your crew.
You are marched through the rusty corridors of Scugg Bollox's flagship and down into a stinking brig. The Gorbonian grunt and push you and your crew into the cell. The Gorbonian guards lock your cell and depart. There are no guards in the room, but there are sensor pods suggesting you are under some sort of surveillance. You could try to escape, but this might only anger Bollox. He's never motivated by ****, only by profit and his own sick hedonism. Maybe you can negotiate.
Try to escape or wait to see what happens?
