Let's talk somewhere else (Take you somewhere)

"Gloria?" June asks. "Do you want me to stay?"

The two of you are still naked in the shower stall, face to face as you lean over toward your petite redheaded nurse as she sits in the shower chair.

Your lip trembles. June tilts her face up toward yours.

You hear the door open and the chatter of nurses entering the dressing room.

"Let's talk about this somewhere else," you say.

Twenty-five minutes later, you and June are sitting at your kitchen table. June's soiled uniform is churning in your washing machine. She's wearing a pair of your left-the-nest daughter's pajamas while you're still in your hospital whites. You're sipping from a mug of decaf, black, while June drinks an instant caramel vanilla latte from a tin you found at the back of your cabinet.

"What did you mean when you meant you'd stay for me, June?" you ask her.

June blushes. She reaches out a hand for yours. It's warm from her mug. "I mean if you want me," she says.

"It's just the two of us," you say. "No crazy lady hypnotizing us. No lesbian conspiracy threatening our jobs."

She closes her hand round your wrist. "Just the two of us."

"No promises, June," you say. "No decisions today."

June takes a deep breath.

"But I'd like to find out what it means, if you stay for me," you say.

"Gloria?" June asks.

"Will you come to bed with me?" you ask.
