Chapter 5 by Stonecrow Stonecrow

Back to Richard? Stick with this chick?

Let's hear more about that policewoman

Officer Becky Tartwell remembered that day very well, though not because of the woman she'd arrested at the diner. The memorable part had come that evening, when she'd been almost ready to knock off for the evening.

"We've got a possible 10-66 at 453 Curie road, Bravo-Tango I have you as closest. You able to check it out?" Came the voice of her dispatch.

Becky rolled her eyes. "Does the complainant know the penalties for making a false allegation of feminism?" They got spurious calls like these on the regular, mostly to do with neighborly disputes.

"I advised them," came dispatch's answer. "They said, and I quote, they 'haven't seen the women in question but there's a young man here you want to talk to'"

In officer Becky's memory, she did a u-turn at that point. She didn't - she was already going the right way - but she remembers a one-eighty, a complete change in her perspective. She sped to the named address, running silent the last mile.

453 Currie was a fairly rural area, a nondescript house a ways from the closest neighbor. She arrived to find a couple cars parked a ways away, and a couple of camping chairs set up on the lawn. A young man was talking to a trio of women. As Becky approached, one of them rose and swiftly walked to meet her.
