Let's Do This

Laurie took a deep breath. "OK. But I want 2000, and I want the money in advance"

Dan whistled. "I can get you 800 in advance, the rest afterwards".

She frowned. "Fine. But I need another 50 in expenses."

"Expenses?"

"I don't want anyone recognising me. Even with a change of clothes, I need a different look if I'm going to do it."

"Seriously?" Dan laughed out loud. "Boy, you've gotten into this fast. Hey, does this make me your pim... Ow!"

Dan clutched his cheek where Laurie had slapped him. She spoke very slowly, scowling at Dan: "If you ever say anything like that again, the deal's off, and I'll hit you somewhere even uglier than your face." Laurie stood up. "I'm going to go and revise. I need the money this evening." With that, she turned and walked back into her bedroom.

Alone, she flopped onto her bed and covered her face with her hands. Was she really going to sell herself? Maybe Dan was right, and she was a whore. What would her parents think if they found out? What about Alex? What about herself?

Laurie heard a little noise, and saw an envelope had been pushed under her door. She walked over and picked it up. On the front was written in Dan's handwriting 'For next Saturday', and inside she counted 850 in small bills. Shame fought with greed while she weighed the notes in her hands. Then she smiled, and tucked the money into her pocket. Laurie picked up her phone and wrote a text to Alex: 'Hey, I'm going to have to cancel dinner next Saturday, my sister is in town. Really really sorry!'
