Chapter 2
by perv-senpai
Who could it be?
Leona - The Radiant Dawn & Diana - Scorn of the Moon
As the voice called out, I turned to see two figures approaching. The first was a woman clad in gleaming golden armor, her presence exuding strength and warmth. The sun seemed to glint off her armor, creating an almost ethereal aura around her. She carried a massive shield emblazoned with a radiant sun symbol and a matching sword at her side. There was no mistaking her identity—this was Leona, the Radiant Dawn, the steadfast protector of the Solari.
Walking beside her was another woman, her silver hair cascading down her back, contrasting sharply with the dark, lunar-themed attire she wore. Her eyes glowed with an otherworldly light, and the crescent moon blade she held seemed to pulse with a quiet, cool energy. This was Diana, the Scorn of the Moon, a champion of the Lunari. The two of them, Leona and Diana, represented opposing celestial forces—day and night, sun and moon. Yet here they were, together, and as they approached, it became clear that their bond went beyond their differing allegiances.
Leona reached me first, her expression a mixture of concern and curiosity. "Are you alright?" she asked, her voice rich and reassuring. "You look like you've just seen a ghost."
Diana, who was now standing closer, examined me more intently. "This is truly unusual," she remarked, studying me with a sharp and analytical gaze. "You don't belong here, do you?"
I shook my head, still trying to process the surreal reality I found myself in. "I... I was just reading," I stammered, "and then I was suddenly here. This is... this is Summoner's Rift, isn't it?"
Leona and Diana exchanged a glance, and then Leona nodded. "Indeed. But how you arrived here remains a mystery," she said thoughtfully. "This place is not meant for the uninitiated."
Diana crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing slightly. "And yet, here you are. A curious event, indeed."
I realized that despite recognizing them, they hadn't formally introduced themselves. Before I could say anything, Leona spoke again. "Apologies, we haven't properly introduced ourselves. I am Leona, also known as the Radiant Dawn." She gestured to her gleaming golden armor.
Diana added, "And I am Diana, the Scorn of the Moon. Together, we represent the forces of the sun and moon, day and night." She then continued, "But since you seem to have some knowledge of our world, you probably already know who we are."
Leona smiled reassuringly. "And you are? It's not often we meet someone like you here."
"My name is John," I replied, still overwhelmed by the situation. "I don't know how I got here, but it's an honor to meet you both."
As I looked between the two, it struck me how comfortable they seemed in each other's presence, despite their known backgrounds. Leona noticed my puzzled expression and smiled gently. "We have our differences, but we've found common ground," she explained. "There's more to the world than just the divide between day and night."
Diana smirked, a hint of playful challenge in her eyes. "Yes, Leona here often reminds me of the value of patience and understanding," she said with a hint of irony. "Though I must admit, sometimes our debates do get rather... spirited."
Leona chuckled, her laughter like a warm breeze. "That's putting it mildly. But our friendship is built on respect and a shared desire to protect this world, even if our methods differ."
I felt a sense of relief wash over me, comforted by their friendly banter and the unexpected warmth in their dynamic. "So, what happens now?" I asked, glancing around at the vast and intimidating landscape of Summoner's Rift.
Diana stepped closer, her expression softening slightly. "You must have many questions," she said. "It's not every day someone finds themselves transported into a world like this. But worry not; we can guide you."
Leona nodded in agreement. "We should start with the basics," she suggested. "Summoner's Rift is a place of strategy and combat, where champions like us defend our respective Nexus and strive to claim victory. But there's more to it than just battles." Then, as if struck by a sudden thought, Leona turned to me with a warm, encouraging smile. "But why just talk about it? You seem capable enough, and since you're already here, why not learn by doing? Come, join us in a skirmish. You'll learn much more from experiencing it firsthand."
Before I could protest or express my concerns, Leona had already started walking towards the nearest lane, her golden armor gleaming in the twilight. Diana followed, a slight smirk playing on her lips, clearly intrigued by the turn of events. There was no time to second-guess myself; I hurried after them, feeling a mix of excitement and trepidation.
As we approached the frontline, the air buzzed with anticipation. The landscape of Summoner's Rift stretched out before us, with its lush greenery, towering turrets, and winding river. It felt surreal, yet undeniably real. I had no time to dwell on my surroundings, though, as Leona and Diana quickly briefed me on my role.
"Keep an eye on the map and alert us to any incoming threats or opportunities," Leona instructed, her tone gentle yet firm. "Watch for enemy movements, track their locations, and let us know if any objectives are ****."
Diana added, her voice laced with an edge of excitement, "And remember, this isn't just about fighting. Information is power. If you can tell us where the enemies are and what they're doing, we can outmaneuver them."
With a nod, I focused on the task at hand. As we moved through the jungle, Diana led the charge, her crescent blade slicing through the underbrush with precision. Leona stayed close, her shield at the ready, always prepared to protect and support her ally. They moved with a fluid grace, their actions synchronized as if they had done this a thousand times before.
Our first encounter with the enemy champions was intense. Diana darted forward, engaging them with a flurry of swift strikes, her blade flashing in the dim light. Leona followed, raising her shield to deflect incoming attacks and using her solar magic to heal and empower Diana. I kept my distance, scanning the battlefield and shouting out warnings and observations.
"There's another champion approaching from the top lane!" I called out, spotting the figure in the distance. "And a dragon is appearing near the river!"
Leona nodded, her eyes focused. "Good eyes! Keep it up!"
Diana, in the midst of a fierce exchange, managed to smirk. "Not bad for a rookie. Stay sharp!"
Encouraged by their words, I continued to provide support, noting enemy positions and alerting them to potential dangers. Despite my initial nerves, I found myself growing more confident, the adrenaline of the battle sharpening my senses. I called out turret placements, potential ambushes, and the movements of neutral monsters, ensuring that Leona and Diana had all the information they needed to strategize effectively.
The battle raged on, and I marveled at the synergy between the two champions. Leona's protective abilities allowed Diana to take risks and deal devastating damage, while Diana's swift assaults created openings for Leona to engage or disengage as needed. It was a dance of light and shadow, sun and moon, each complementing the other.
At one point, as Diana was surrounded by enemy champions, Leona intervened, her shield flaring with radiant energy. She blocked a critical strike and unleashed a wave of solar power, stunning the attackers and allowing Diana to escape and counterattack. The sight was awe-inspiring, a testament to their strength and teamwork.
And then, unexpectedly, I found my own moment to shine. As we pushed towards an enemy turret, I spotted a group of enemy minions and a champion attempting to flank us. Quickly, I relayed the information. "There's a flank coming from the left! They’re trying to catch us off guard!"
Leona responded instantly, positioning herself between the approaching enemies and our group. "Diana, take the turret! I’ll hold them off!"
Diana nodded, her eyes flashing with determination. "On it!"
With precise strikes, Diana dismantled the turret while Leona held the line, deflecting attacks and buying time. I kept a close watch on the minimap, calling out any new developments. My heart raced, but it was exhilarating to be a part of the action, to contribute meaningfully.
As the battle drew to a close, we regrouped in a safe area. Leona turned to me, her expression one of genuine approval. "You did well. Your observations were crucial to our success. For someone new to this world, you have sharp instincts."
Diana, wiping her blade clean, nodded in agreement. "Indeed. You might not have the combat experience, but your awareness and quick thinking were invaluable. You kept us informed, and that’s half the battle won."
I felt a surge of pride at their praise.
