Chapter 5

Left or Right?
Left, stay with the Captain
Kim leapt out of the way, rolling and firing into the side of the enormous monster. She really hoped the Captain was watching: that was the smoothest move she'd probably ever made. The creature let out another shriek, spiky legs flailing at its sides, but its armor was beginning to fail under the unrelenting pounding of dozens of **** rifles worth of bullets.
Kim scrambled back as the thing started flailing back and forth, gouging the cracked cement with its legs and pulverizing an abandoned car. Fortunately, that same cement was slick with the creatures greenish-grey blood and its movements were starting to slow.
"Focus fire on the second segment! We can disable it if we cut off the head!" The Captain was shouting orders even as she hurled a grenade under the other siege-breaker, the enormous centipede writhing indignantly as a great chunk of its armor shattered in the blast. Unfortunately, despite their success in dealing the monstrous aliens, they were hardly alone.
Kim hurried to the Captain's side, eager for direction in the chaos of her first major engagement, as vicious buzzing began to fill the air. Captain Lee cursed, smoothly conducting the main body of the soldiers into inner and outer rings to cope with airborne and ground threats respectively. Lee herself was in the outer line and that was where Kim found herself when hunters dropped out of the sky in swarms, smaller versions of the centipedes they'd just slain skittering over rubble to **** them from the ground.
In the end the rings held, through the use of judicious explosives and the timely deployment of the flamethrowers, the survivors of the company set up camp in one of the surviving structures to get their bearings. Kim hadn't left the Captain's side since the engagement and she stood now with her on the roof as Lee surveyed their surroundings through binoculars.
"Annoyingly clever for bugs aren't they...?"
"-Kim, sir."
"Kim. Should've guessed. Did you lose anyone you knew back there?"
Kim swallowed, fighting the irritatingly strong urge to sniffle, "Private Choe sir, she was my bunkmate."
Lee nodded, face impassive, "she died a hero then. If we could just get a damned missile through we wouldn't have to-" There was a low whirring sound followed by a thump and the Captain staggered. Your heart drops as you both look down at the thin chord that had wrapped itself around her middle.
You met her eyes, her face more surprised than anything, "Well shi-Uph!" The captain flew backwards as the chord retracted, yanking her off the roof towards the building across the street. You take a deep breath, ready to scream an alarm to the others, as a stinging band forms around your waist where a second chord had wrapped itself.
What is it? Do you manage to warn the others? What happened to the captain?

Bored Alien Conquers Earth
You are a Tharn, part of an advanced alien race- well... not really. Your "race" is a sentient ball of slime that was able to take over the minds of an advanced alien race and you've been using them to take over the galaxy. Unfortunately, that takes a really long time to do. You're bored out of your mind until you find a pleasant little planet populated by a most entertaining race of primitives. Earth. (All pictures are more of a suggestion than how a character or scene actually looks.)
