Chapter 17

What Do They Find? What Happens Next?
Lea Stirs
However, Lea was unable to take it any longer after you enter your front door. “Where have you taken us?” However, she fails to make any move to upset her balance on your very tired shoulder.
After setting Lea down to her feet, she chose to stay standing instead of crawling back into the fetal position she had been in when you picked her up. Gwen was standing with her mouth hanging open as she in amazement at her surroundings. An automated Thorium Nuclear power-plant operating well below capacity, was built into the ground below, was what kept the lights on and other technology working, which was around them even in the foyer.
You shrug, “The walk helped me clear my head some, but I doubt an apology is really desired by you. However, from how you two reacted there seemed a high probability that we are starting a family. This is the compound my family and I built to survive after whatever cataclysm, that was headed our way, hit.
“Previously working as a neurosurgeon has left me with better knowledge than most on how to help you stay healthy and fit through your pregnancy. Additionally, this compound is specifically designed to be self-sufficient without a want to step outside the thirteen yard high, and seven yard deep granite wall that surrounds us. I am reasonably positive there are only a select number of people that know the codes to get into this compound.
“The overwhelming ‘desire’ to ‘own’ either of you has long since passed, and I am unsure what caused it. Perhaps the virus actually has changed us in ways different than the ones who are dead.
“However, this is perhaps one of, if not the actual best place for you guys to stay. Out there are others who have given into whatever this madness is that has graced us. There are only so many bullets in that gun of yours, even if Gwen choses to use it.”
Half of the tetrahedronal compound was underneath them, excluding Basement ß, which was several 'floors' under the rest of the compound. It housed the Thorium Nuclear Reactor, their water filtration system, source of groundwater, as well as sewage treatment plant. Each of the three divisions were separated by a football field of rock and granite.
The granite had been alchemically created with a process one of your brothers discovered. All of the granite used on the compound was alchemically created. It was far to heavy of a substance for even a billionaire to afford moving in the quantities they desired. It was the cardinal reason the compound could last a millennium or two.
By using the more abundant thorium as a power source, the Nuclear Reactor would run at room temperature and in a millenia when there was 'waste', it would fail to emit any 'harmful' radiation. The reason the government chose to abandon Thorium reactor study was because plutonium failed to be created for their nuclear bombs.
Nonetheless neither Lea, or Gwen, were obligated to know any of these snippets of information. For all you know they may react as the typical member of society before B.T.V. and maintain the irrational and illogical negative reaction against 'all' nuclear technology.
How do Lea & Gwen react? Submissive or have they recovered from the trauma? Is there someone else here?
