Laying the Game Plan Out

We each sit and sip our coffee lost in our own thoughts, worry darting the faces of Peter and Joanne. I let them think about what I have done with them and the possibilities that I have shown them until at long last I clear my throat. ?Are we awake enough to deal with things as they are, not as they once were??

Peter nods his head not saying anything but casting a sideways glance at Joanne.

Joanne looks at us both and says, ?Maybe I should start??

I reach across the table and take both of their hands in each of mine. ?Let me, because you see, I know I have you two thinking now and learning and aware of yourselves again and so it is for me to help you finish this journey that you have began since my coming here. I love you both very much and as both of you know I have given that love to you not in the hope of destroying your marriage but maybe opening it up.?

?What are you talking about? Peter exclaims his voice getting edgy already. ?What have you done with Joanne??

?Calm down Peter? I have done less with her than I have you and you should know that.

?Really? Joanne says looking at us both with an upraised eyebrow, ?what have you done with Peter exactly??

?Both of you have needed me and both of you have found a peace you have not known because of what I shared with you am I right?

They both look at each other and then me and smile.

?As you know I am more a man of action and example so keep your emotions in check and I think you two will learn a lot about how much you love each other and I think I can be the glue that keeps you together by joining you in your relationship.?

Peter looks at Joanne and she slowly turns to him and then they nod at me again each not daring to speak because they are afraid what they have done with me will make the other leave.

?The real question is, who shall I start with? I say to them.
