So which does klarion pick and what does present actually mean?

Later and terrible things

Chapter 90 by frogogre1

Klarion decided in a rare decision for him that patience was the best choice for now. It went against his instincts to do whatever interested him at whatever point. Though he knew this time it would pay off. As the power in the ritual built with all the sea monsters and the carnage they were causing outside, eventually something far greater than he could have ever thought possible would come to be born from the ritual's build-up of power.

For a toy so great Klarion could wait. "What do you think it'll be, Teekl? A massive three-headed lightning shark? An unending sea serpent made out of fangs?" Klarion said to Teekl, coming up with idea after idea of what this powerful sea monster would turn out to be. Teekls gave a small purr noise in response. "Ooh, I hadn't thought of that." Klarion said responding to Teekl's idea for what this great sea monster of chaos would be in the end.

As Klarion talked with Teekl about what was going to be born from the ritual, Condiment Wizard grew tired. He'd been pouring tartar sauce nonstop, standing for a while. It wasn't his magic that was still going as strong as when he'd started. The problem was his body was growing stiff and tired from holding the exact same position for a couple of hours at this point. So to remedy this, the Condiment wizard sat down to rest his body as he continued to use his magic.

He managed to sit down without stopping the flow of tartar sauce. He even managed to get his idol wand to still shoot out tartar sauce while sitting in his lap, though it gave the awkward image from certain angles that he was pissing tartar sauce. Luckily the Condiment wizard didn't notice it, and Klarion didn't care enough to tell him, so it went unnoticed. Though that wasn't the only thing Condiment Wizard wasn't aware of, as Condiment Wizard was about to siege a city of the gods without ever realizing he had.

The island of paradise was hidden by a barrier made from the gods that was impossible to cross or even see without the Amazons' approval, which no one but themselves ever got. Though there was one flaw in the barrier, which was that if anything could cross it without the Amazon's express permission, they would be caught totally by surprise. So it was that they were caught totally by surprise as an army of twisted sea creatures went through the holy barrier like it wasn't even there.

Thousands of Amazon women had been enjoying the beach, doing such things as getting a tan, jogging, enjoying the sand, or practicing fighting. There were even a few sunbathers who were more risqué and were sunbathing nude to avoid tanning lines. All of them were suddenly under attack, and those who practiced fighting had to form a line, under-equipped and not prepared.

The rest fled from the beach and ran into the city of Themyscira to arm themselves for battle. The alarms were sounded, and the walls were quickly manned by archers who immediately began raining down arrows into the invading sea monsters. Those first few fighters who had formed a line were starting to break. They had already been practicing fighting before the battle, tiring themselves, and they were carrying practice weapons, not real ones.

Before they could be overwhelmed, the redheaded Amazon Artemis entered the field, an axe in hand and her back strapped with weapons. She charged through the line, dropping the weapons as she went by, and immediately got to chopping into the invading monsters. "Come, sisters! Let these creatures know why we are the warriors of the Goddess Athena!" Artemis roared, and the others roared with her, given a second wind and charging back at the creatures.

The battle was won in the melee as claw met blade, tentacle met axe, and scales met spear. The archers on the wall showed their skill as they expertly fired, hitting weak points and not ever hitting their sisters in the melee. Eventually the battle ended as no more sea monsters crossed the barrier. The Amazons were wounded and exhausted but alive. They began checking on each other, giving aid as well as getting their breath back.

"Someone get the priestesses; perhaps they can make sense of this foulness." Artemis said as she kicked one of the dead sea monsters in the hand for emphasis. This proved to be a horrible idea as the dead creature wasn't dead anymore, and it's now working both ways, biting down on her leg. Artemis roared in pain as she was lifted into the air by the mouth biting into her leg.

The screaming of Artemis was a warning that gave the other Amazons a second's warning that they desperately needed them, barely getting their weapons back up in time. The melee began anew once more as the sea monsters came back more ferocious and numerous than before. Growing new limbs from wounds that are cute to pieces will be a dozen new creatures. The Amazons had no choice but to make a fighting retreat towards the walls of Themyscira.

The Amazons, tired and wounded, were in danger of being wiped out. Their retreat was barely happening as the woman barely made any progress towards the wall, busy as they were trying not to be torn apart by the pursuing sea monsters. Then a miracle occurred: Philippus, the right hand of the queen herself, flew down with the royal guard on Pegasus. They flew into the fight and grabbed the weak Amazons. As their escorts, the gryphons and hippogriffs charged into the invaders, tearing at them with claw and beak.

The sudden arrival of a monstrous air force pushed the sea beast back once more. Though they were far from defeated, as their numbers grew, chunks were torn off them, creating smaller sea monsters to add to their ranks. It was a stalemate for a while as the advantage of the wall and controlling the sky helped the Amazons hold the walls.

Philippus looked down now from her Pegasus and watched the battle from the wall. "More amazons to the third section and get more arrows to the fifth section." Philippus shouted out and was conveyed as the wall was organized under her command. A wounded Artemis, who had escaped the beast's jaws but could barely walk with how badly her leg was mangled, walked over to where Philippus stood.

"Where's Hippolyta? It's not like the queen to not take to the defense of the realm." Artemis asked Philippus, who took a moment to answer, giving a few commands to get supplies there and have warriors reinforce one point in the wall. Once finished, she turned and answered.

"The queen is at the palace preparing and having it be turned into a final fortress for us all if needed." Philippus said, "Surprising, Artemis, considering that meant it was felt that the walls were not likely to hold." Which seemed a rather hasty decision as it hadn't been a full day yet. Then she took a good look around at the growing sea monster hoard and knew she was right. As with the rate, the invaders were growing in number; they would soon be able to get over the walls by just walking over each other.

Then disaster struck as some of the invading sea monsters gained fish wings and took to the sky. The gryphons and hippogriffs were forced to group up and face the threat together. This took away their ability to support the Amazons on the wall, and so the Amazons found themselves overwhelmed. With no other choice available, Philippus called a retreat towards the palace.

Once again on the retreat, a force of Amazons formed a shield wall and held under the command of General Philippi, becoming the rear guard. Further to cover the others' retreat, they held for a while. Then as they were moving slowly back, they began to falter as the sea creatures used the side streets to flank them and got onto roofs good to jump on them from above. Though right as they were in danger of being overwhelmed, Antiope, sister to Hippolyta, overwhelmed them riding on their tamed manticores.

They charged through their sister's shield wall and forced the sea creatures back with the ferocity of the manticores and their fire-breathing ability. They retreated towards the palace with the wall of flames holding the invaders back a short while. Artemis, Philippus, and Antiope watched the sea creatures surround them.

"While sisters, it seems we are going to be myths or witness the gods perform a miracle." Antiope said making the situation clear, and neither of the other two women could disagree. It was in the hands of the gods; the three knew whether their people would still be coming tomorrow.
