Chapter 48 by gorel29 gorel29

Fleeing for their lives and running through the streets of Gotham in the dead of night, the two she-wolves caught their breath when they turned to an alley corner out of sight, finding temporary sanctuary. Leaning against the brick wall, the Albino wolfess clutched at her rapidly healing side. By now her wounds had completely healed, save a red welt that was slowly fading and fur that had yet to grow back. The red wolfess clutched at her head, whimpering as she rolled on her side.

“Wow… So, the ninja lady and witch bitch turned vamp huh?” Giggling like a hyena and clutching her sides, Harley Quinn grinned at the surprise. “Mistah B is gonna LOVE that news!” Looking down at Poison Ivy, the red wolfess looked like she had gone through a stroke, curled up tight and shaking like a leaf. Staggering to her partner, Harley grabbed the red furred wolf up by her arm and hoisted her up. “Come on Red, time to make like a tree and get the fuck out of here!”

Instantly, Harley felt a presence behind her, one that gently placed a black silken gloved hand on her shoulder and tipped her top hat to the albino wolf. “That’s just cute, a bitch in heat that’s a Zemeckis fan.” With inhuman strength, Zatanna hurled the wolfess across her shoulder into the brick wall behind them, with enough force that the building shook from the effort and caused red dust to rain down from the fire escapes bolted to the sides. “You two are fast when you get a head start, almost didn’t get a chance to find you.”

“But we most certainly could SMELL you, your blood smells of filth… And HIM!” Sashaying into sight behind the vampiric magician, Talia sneered at the two wolves. “I take it you both were never planned to be turned, more than likely when he tried to bite your heads off, he missed.”

“I don’t know Talia, Bruce always did have a penchant for screwing any women that looked his way, I mean he almost married you, didn’t he?”

Hearing the vampiric assassin hiss back at her like a snake, Zatanna stuck her own tongue out in amusement. “Fine, we won’t bring HIM up… Ever.”

“No… Our lover said to avoid the great wolf at all cost, his… Lovers on the other hand.”

“Yes! Never said anything about avoiding his bitches.”

Looking over to a still overwhelmed Poison Ivy, Harley shook her friend’s shoulders to try and stir her back awake. “Come ON Red, wakey wakey eggs and bakey!”

“Oh, do be quite you insufferable idiot, you were better to tolerate when you wore that stupid jester’s costume, at least THEN you’d have been taken for a clown!”

Suddenly, Pamela’s eyes glowed green just like they did before, slowly rising to her full 9-foot height, the red wolfess stood straight and poised, raising her clawed hand up to point towards the two vampire women who had them cornered in the alley way. “The dead do not make demands; the dead do not make threats.” To everyone’s surprise, moss and plant life seeped into the earth, growing out from under Poison Ivy’s feet and spreading fast towards the undead women. It was like a geyser of water flooding the ground and flowing out from the alley, only instead of water it was moss and plant life, rapidly growing until it finally reached the two vampires and started growing up their legs. Panicking and scratching at the plant growth literally sprouting from their alabaster flesh, the two vampires backed off while Poison Ivy stepped forward. “The dead have only one place to go, to the Earth, and the Earth will take you…” Scrambling to get out of the carpet of plant growing spreading up their bodies, the two women screamed in horror when the growth began to thicken, becoming bark that branched out from their flailing limbs, the mass digging into the stone ground to root them deep into the earth. When Ivy closed her eyes and let herself go limp, the red wolfess fell to her knees in front of the two gnarled trees that now stood in front of her, practically blocking off the exit to the alley. Returned to her whimpering state, the red furred wolfess slowly calmed down and looked towards the sudden bout of plant growth in front of her, then turning to her albino partner in crime with a confused look. “Wha… What happened?”

“Wow Red, talk about a green thumb.”

Pulling her friend up, the two looked at the tall, gnarled trees that blocked off the exit. Then they heard the trunks groan, wood creaking slowly as tiny fractures began to form on its surface.

“Eep, time to go.” Hoisting Ivy over her shoulder, the albino werewolf began to climb up the brick wall, her claws digging into the red brick at easily as if it were Styrofoam. Reaching the top and looking back down to where the trees continued to groan, she spotted a silk gloved hand punch a hole into the trunk of the tree, making the massive wolfess wince and run off with her friend in tow. Faster than a sports car, the pair of wolves ran for their lives into the woodlands, darting between trees and bushes towards the only sanctuary Harley knew. Hearing what sounded like the rage filled scream of a banshee behind her, Harley didn’t need to look behind her to know that the two vampires had torn their way free and were now barrelling towards her and Ivy with the speed and force of a cannonball. Jumping the gated fence of the Wayne estate, Harley made it to the door, slamming full body into the double doors and sliding on the wooden floor and rugs to stop at the staircase with Ivy rolling to the ground with her.

If she had been a few seconds slower, she and Ivy would have been enveloped in a shadowing swarm of bats that crashed into the door frame with the same force as the two wolves had. But where Harley and Ivy stood shaken in the main hall, the bats darted and careened away from the entrance like the swarm had hit an invisible wall. Circling and enveloping the mansion in darkness and wings, the massive swarm of bats screeched and flapped, trying to find a way inside but finding only an invisible barrier keeping them from even getting close to the windows and doors. Testing the surrounding and snapping back when they flew too close, the swarm of bats finally relented and circled the front of the estate, focusing and closing in on itself until the mass of bats took the form of the two vampire women, red rage in their eyes and their fangs barred.

“COWARDLY DOGS! DO YOU THINK HIS EFFORTS CAN SAVE YOU? THIS CITY BELONGS TO US NOW!”

“DAMN RIGHT!” Hiss Zatanna, her talons brandished and her eyes glowing. “THE NEXT TIME I SEE YOU, I’M TURNG YOU BOTH INSIDE OUT!”

Getting up off the floor and having to slouch just to look out the double doors to the pair of women glaring back at her, Harley smirked. “Sticks and stones may break my bones but at least I can walk through a fucking door.” Slamming the doors shut, Harley’s chessar grin grew wider when she heard the two vampire women continue to curse and threaten before making their leave, disappearing into the night.

“Yeesh, and they called ME the dumb one.” Harley shrugged, falling to all fours to circle the now sleeping Ivy who had decided to curl up at the mantle of the stairs. “Wonder what Misah B is doin… ‘Yawn’… Hope he’s havin a betteh night than we did.”
