Keep the pair of fives

“Three cards,” you say. “I wonder which one of you will be naked after this hand.”

“Neither of us,” says Claire. “Two cards.”

“Three for me,” Lin says.

You look at your hand and see nothing that helps. Hoping that your hand will hold up anyway, you say, “I’ve got a pair.”

“Three jacks for me,” says Claire. “You’ve got his bad hand beat too. Right, Lin?”

“Yep,” she says revealing a better pair.

“About time you lost,” Claire says. “It looked like you were overdressed around here.”

You pull your shirt up over your head and toss it in a pile next to you. “Is this better,” you ask.

“Not really. You still seem overdressed. But we’ll take care of that next hand.”
