Kazumi, Engineer Extraordinaire

Kazumi was technically meant to remain an engineer who was only involved with the surface level aspects of the operation, but through a high up contact, a friendly benefactor, one could say, and a bit of booze, she discovered that she wasn’t generating blueprints for a hypothetical giant person… But a real, tangible, giant person. A person who now needed help, possibly due to the designs Kazumi herself had put on them… She couldn’t help but feel responsible, and through some further friendly pressure, she got her name put on the list to assist that person, ahead of the petty convicts who were doing it for money, and just behind the people too squeamish to actually go through with it upon seeing the subject… She hadn’t realized she had more in common with the latter, though in hindsight it made sense. If someone was doing this for simple volunteer work, they were far less likely to actually do it, because nothing was at stake for them… The convicts though, people who were in jail for debt and thievery, no violent crimes or sexual crimes, their ability to leave jail a free person after some humane testing was at stake, so of course they’d do anything no matter what it took… They were thoroughly screened of course, and put under so many layers of nondisclosure agreement that they’d be placed in solitary confinement for life if they spoke out about what actually happened, but still, they were a select few whose lives were in a shitty place and this program could actually get them out… What was Kazumi’s guilt compared to that..? She answered that herself the moment they brought her into the room, and she saw the massive anthropomorphic snake woman, chained to a table with restraints that would defeat a forklift… Apparently, she had recommended such restraints, and since she wasn’t in a present enough mind to say the safe word, they’d stay on… Regardless of how mightily she yanked and pulled at them, they held her stable in place… Although Kazumi’s heart couldn’t help but go out to her due to the pure terror in her eyes. The procedure itself was simple and painless, so the sooner they did it, the sooner they could help Zavi… With a simple shift, she followed the egghead who had been yakking the whole time she had been thinking to a small space behind the large table Zavi was on. Once there, an odd odd machine came into full view, it looked rather similar to a harness of some kind, and it was explained to Kazumi that she would be wearing that, and it would begin the procedure, they once again ascertained that she was sure she wanted to do this, apparently this was the moment where the other subjects had backed out, and Kazumi confirmed her willingness, Zavi had been on that table restrained and terrified for who knows how long… It was time for Zavi’s fear to fade. So without further ado… Kazumi stepped into the device, which tightened around her, and a door on the back of Zavi’s table fell away, showing Zavi’s back. As the harness lifted her up and towards Zavi’s back, Kazumi could hear various scientists and engineers yelling that the alignment wasn’t right… Zavi’s absurd strength had been sufficient to yank things out of where they were supposed to be in spite of the **** measures Hideki had taken… Kazumi wasn’t sure what to do, but she was close enough to touch Zavi… So with a gentle hand, she reached out and placed her palm on Zavi’s back, trying to be comforting… But every muscle in Zavi’s body seemingly seized at once at the touch of a human, a sensation that utterly terrified Zavi to an unbelievable extent… But it ultimately achieved the desired effect regardless of the method, Zavi was remaining entirely still for the moment, and while the eggheads stood confused, an unknown hand jammed the lever forward, activating the procedure….
