Kawakami took a deep breath. This was a stupid idea. Gah, this was such a stupid idea! Stupid, and dangerous, and reckless. But what choice did she have? “Hey, who’s that?” she said loudly, looking to her left.
She felt the cop’s grip loosen just a bit as he looked where she was looking, and took her chance to act. Kawakami threw all her weight in the other direction, yanking her arm free of the officer’s grip. She nearly fell, stumbling away from the man, but somehow kept her feet beneath her. She took off at sprint down the alley, handcuffs swinging freely from one wrist, heedless of who might be watching.
“Stop!” the officer called behind her. Kawakami could hear him beginning to run after here. “Stop right there!” She ran faster, adrenaline pushing her tired muscles into action. She knew she wouldn’t be able to keep up this pace for long, though. She had been exhausted before she even began running! Damn it, this was a stupid idea!
Kawakami blew past several people walking along the main street as she exited the alley, panic almost squashing her mortification at being seen like this. Almost. She was acutely aware that anyone staring after her could easily see her bare bottom, now not covered by anything. Damn that Ryuji! This was all his fault! If she survived this embarrassing debacle without being fired, she’d lecture him within an inch of his life!
Rounding a corner, she spied some bushes. Acting mostly on instinct, she dove right into them, ignoring the sharp pokes against her bare skin, managing to hide herself just as the officer appeared. He continued down the alley at a sprint, seemingly unaware that she wasn’t still ahead of him.
Kawakami sighed in relief. That had been far too close! There was no way she could have outrun the man forever, and getting caught after trying to escape would have only made her situation worse. Thank goodness she hadn’t given him her real name! All things considered, she’d be very lucky.
Well...not too lucky. She held up her arm, examining the handcuff dangling from it with irritation. One loop was closed around her wrist, while the other remained open. This was going to be hard to explain, if anyone saw it. How was she going to get this off, anyways? She couldn’t exactly show up to class with this thing on! Perhaps Ren could do something about it. He’d had her make lockpicks before; surely he might have some idea how to open these!
Kawakami felt her face redden as she imagined showing up to Leblanc as she was now. Wearing only a naked apron, a collar, and handcuffs. She really wasn’t setting a good example as a teacher, was she? Could she even make it there dressed like this?
