"You know," Karen said as she put their dinner... boxed macaroni and cheese... on the table. "I think it's time to change things."

"What do you mean?" their mother asked.

"Well, it made sense for you to have the bedroom when it was you and dad but now it's just you."

"So?"

"So, obviously Matt should get the bedroom. It isn't fair for him to have to sleep in the laundry room when there's a perfectly good bedroom with a nice big bed there."

Karen shrugged. "You did sleep there. But really, Matt is taller and, frankly, he's our leader now. It would be silly to have our boss sleep in a shitty little hole while you're laying like a queen in your king-sized bed."

"You know, Karen has a point. But there's no reason why you should have to sleep in the laundry room... or that Karen have to sleep in the dining room. You could both sleep with me and we could open up the dining room again and have a lot more room for doing homework, for you to study for your medical coding specialist certification, and to actually enjoy our dinner in a civilized manner rather than having to eat on the couch all the time."

"But... isn't that inappropriate?"

"You can sleep on the floor if you want, mother," Karen said. "We have that camping air mattress we never used. I intend to sleep with Matt."

"Well, I guess it would be okay if we all shared the bed... if that's what you want, Matt."
