Chapter 16 by resonantscar resonantscar

Now what?

Kalis needs to talk

You walk towards the bridge with Kalis following behind you.

If what the Ranthian told you was true, and you have no reason to doubt it, then it means that you're in trouble. You've heard of the Red Empress; it's the flagship of the Red Fleet, with none other than the infamous Tering Cale in command. Cale has moved to Moray Station to block off the main jump lane leading out of the system, and the Red Fleet undoubtedly has ships on the way to the other jump lanes, if not there already.

Your thoughts are interrupted by a tap to the shoulder. You turn around to see Kalis looking at you. "John," she says, "We must speak."

"Okay, sure" you say, before realizing that this is highly unusual behavior for a clone. Kalis continues, "The interrogation has had an effect on me. I believe I'm in need of release. I can't function properly like this."

Did she just tell you that she's horny? But clones don't get horny unless they're programmed for it. As a combat clone, Kalis is most definitely not programmed for pleasure duty.

"What are you trying to tell me?" you say, trying to buy some time to think. "I'm horny, and I need to fuck." Did you just hear her right? Where did she even learn to talk like that? To be sure, you've always wanted her. You figured that you could fuck her when you had the time, but you never counted on her wanting to speed things along.

"Since when did you learn to talk like that, Kalis?" you ask. "From Eldren. He said that to me all the time," she replies. You suppose that makes sense. She takes your hand and presses it against her crotch. "Look," she says. You are very surprised to feel a dampness that's soaked through her thermal suit. Thinking to yourself, you realize that Kalis may have gone rogue and developed free will. That could be a problem, but right now you've got more important things to worry about. "Kalis," you say, withdrawing your hand. "You don't know how long I've wanted a roll in the hay with you." You pause, running a hand through your hair with a sigh. "But right now I'm worried about getting us and the ship out of the system in one piece."

Kalis steps closer to you so that you're almost touching. "Let Vel find the best nav point out of here. She's good at that sort of thing, that's what she was made for. It will be hours before we're even near any of the jump lanes."

She's right. Still, can you afford to lose time that may be better spent in planning and preparation?

How do you respond?
