Chapter 5
by resonantscar
What now?
Kalis has something to tell you
Now that you've left the planet, you expect Kalis to stand up and return to the training room, as she always does.
Instead, she looks at you with a strange expression on her face. Leaning her face close to yours, she softly says, "I miss him."
"Me too," you reply. Odd programming, you think to yourself. Who would program a clone to miss a dead master?
"He never would have allowed it, but for a long time I've wanted to spend the night with you," she says before giving you a soft kiss on the lips.
As she begins planting soft kisses on your neck, you ponder the implications of what Kalis just said. You've always wanted her, there was no doubt about that. She was Eldren's, though, and you never would have dared to cross him. Besides, Vel kept you happy and satisfied. Eldren's gone, now, so they're both yours. You still honor Eldren's memory, but he won't care about what happens between you and Kalis now.
There's one problem, though - Kalis is a clone. Clones are not programmed to develop their own desires. You're certain that Kalis has not had her programming modified since Eldren got her, and even if he did change her programming, why would he make her desire you? He obviously wasn't going to let anything happen between you two. It doesn't make any sense. Did her programming even allow her to feel sexual desire at all?
By now Kalis is rubbing your chest with her hand, and sticking her tongue in your ear.
Your mind begins to race as you consider the possibilities. Kalis may be going rogue, if she hasn't already. She's obviously developed wants and desires independent from her programming. Once she has achieved free will, she will have gone fully rogue.
It's illegal in the Commonwealth for ordinary citizens like yourself to own combat clones; if caught, you would be subject to heavy fines in addition to prison time, and Kalis would be confiscated and reprogrammed. As a rogue clone, she would be subject to immediate destruction even in societies outside of the Commonwealth. Not only that, but rogue clones are notorious for being dangerous, unstable, and prone to insanity. Fits of murderous rage are not unheard of, and there's no telling what kind of damage a combat clone like Kalis could do. You're feeling a bit nervous when Kalis slides her hand down to your crotch and whispers into your ear....
"I love you, John."
What will you say? What will you do?
