Just take a little peek.

You think she's between the next couple of rows of desks, but if you make a move and she isn't there - that'll be your ass hanging out in the wind. You inch to the edge of the desk you're hiding behind and turn your head to peek out from the corner of your eye.

But as you move that final inch, there's a sudden racket above you - rattle and squawking and flapping... Those fucking birds! You're hiding behind a table with a cage full of birds on it and... well, whether she trained them or not they're giving your location away.

"Ah, there you are." Your blood chills despite her soft, lilting tones and you scramble again, trying to get behind a different table. You need to change locations quickly!

You think you get away quickly, almost diving across the floor, but it's not quick enough. As you dive for the corner of another desk your right leg, propelling you, trails out behind you. A sharp, ominous pain stabs into your ankle as you draw it in.

A green feather, the same thing she was trying to stick you with before, projects from your ankle, nearly from your foot. Just below your jeans in fact, flesh that was only exposed since you took your shoes and socks off. What an idiot. Green? What had she said? A mild nerve serum?

"I know where you are." Her tone even more playful and affectionate than before. "And now you've got my medicine in your blood... how do you feel?"

You feel dizzy. Even sitting down with your back to the bench-column the room seems to be swimming around you. You flex your fingers, and test your legs and everything's working but everything seems to be a couple of beats off. Fuck she's going to come round that table any minute and stick you with something else and then you'll really be screwed.
