Remembering he was there, Ashley turned the guy, now angry. “Dude, watch where you’re going! You’re lucky nothing got broken right there!” She yelled. The yelling seemed to snap the guy out of whatever trance he’d been in, and he muttered an apology as he ran towards the football that had sailed over their heads. Ashley turned back to Julie, who was still speechless.

“A-are you okay?” Ashley asked. Julie simply nodded, even though she was decidedly not okay. Ashley looked away as she held out a hand. Julie stared at it for a moment before she grabbed it, and Ashley pulled her off the ground. They stood in awkward silence for a while, unable to look each other in the eyes.

“Let’s just...forget that happened and keep going, alright?” Ashley offered, and once again, Julie silently nodded. Ashley grabbed the bundle of banners and started off towards the next place. Julie stared after her, but when Ashley called out to her, she finally snapped out of it, and clapped her cheeks. She decided to just try and lock that awkward memory away in a mental vault as she grabbed the ladder and followed Ashley, still silent.

She couldn’t seem to get that smell out of her head, though.
