Joy comforts her

Joy finished cleaning up the mess and sighed as she saw Alexa sobbing, tears pouring from her eyes down her cheeks. Joy looked sympathetic and was reminded of her babysitting days. She pulled Alexa into a hug and held her tightly. “It’s okay, Lexi. I’m sure there’s an explanation for this,” she said. “It’ll be alright. You just have to be honest next time, then I won’t have to spank you. We could’ve avoided all of that and kept this between you and me. I care a lot about you, Lexi. What did you think I was going to do with this information?”

Alexa sobbed and clung to her former babysitter’s neck, pressing her face into her shoulder. “I thought... I don’t know. I’m so embarrassed. I just was scared. I don’t know why I wet the bed. I haven’t done this in...”

“10 years,” Joy said. “But Lexi, you clearly need help, and hiding it isn’t going to benefit you. It’s only going to make things worse.”

“I... I’m sorry,” she sobbed. “Don’t tell anyone, please. Don’t tell my parents.”

Joy sighed and held Alexa tightly. “I’ll keep this a secret as best as I can,” she said. “But you have to be completely honest for me to help you. Now I don’t think anyone heard you, but let’s try to avoid public displays from now on. We can do that by you just being honest. So the next time I ask you what’s going on, you better tell me the truth.”

“Yes, Miss Joy,” Alexa said, sniffling.

“Now is there anything else I should know?” She asked.

“M-my shower doesn’t work,” Alexa said. “I was gonna get a plumber to look at it.”

“I see,” she said. “Do you know where your water supply valve is?”

“What?” Alexa said.

“Nevermind,” Joy said. “Come on.”

Alexa followed Joy to the bathroom and opened the bathroom sink cabinet, looking inside. She turned a valve under it and then walked over to the shower. She turned the handle and the water came pouring out. Alexa blushed. “Oh, thank you,” she said.

“Sometimes the valve can get turned off,” Joy said. “While we are here, we might as well wash yourself.”

Joy pulled out a liquid soap and filled the bathtub. “I can do that,” Alexa said.

“Come on,” She said. “It’ll be just like the good ol days.”
