"So everything's set for the party, right?" You ask Carla Bradbury over the phone.
"Yeah, everything's set. You're sure you can get them two together, right? I mean, he could have any girl in town and he's stuck on Courtney...I mean not that I'm complaining, I have my man and I love him."
You smile at her and her boyfriend that no one knows. For a long tie you had considered her delusional, but she is with the geek a lot, so...maybe it's him and they don't want to let it out. "I know what you mean Carla, I know what you mean. It took me a long time to figure it out. Us men are a bit dense about that stuff, you know? But he kept turning girls down left and right, it was really weird. And then at your cousin's pool party I caught him practically drooling at Courtney and it was like someone flipped a switch and DING I got it. He likes her. And the man can't go to college a virgin, and Courtney's a really nice girl. Helped me in a lot of classes, and still got her own work done. She's an amazing girl, and I can see why Jeremy has fallen hard for her."
"And she's hot too! I mean...you know what I mean. I've talked to her, and she's all like, 'But I'm not pretty enough for him'. I was like, 'What?' I mean she's one of the hottest girls in school and..."
"You know why she's so hot? It's because she doesn't see it. She doesn't go out in tons of make up..."
"Hey!"
"You don't either. I'm talking about Shannon and Genvieve."
Carla giggles, "A little more lipstick and they could apply to the Circus as a clown!"
"Exactly, they haven't realized that it's supposed to accentuate, not mask. I mean what the hell do they look like in the morning? How early do they have to wake up to put that shit on their faces? Is it like the moves where they have to sit in a chair for like four hours?"
Carla is laughing hard into her phone by now, and is unable to respond, and you just smile yourself. "Anyhow, Carla I'm going to get going, let you get the house set for tonight, 'kay?"
"Okay, no problem," She says through gasps, "I'll see you later, John!"
