Jason returns the phone

Late in the following morning, Jason approached Jade's front step with his head hanging low. Behind him was his father, arms crossed sternly in front of him. Jason knocked solemnly on the door. A humiliated and defeated look appeared on his face when Jade's mother opened the door, and the expression got worse when she called Jade to the door.

Jade's mother stepped back to let her stand in the doorway. Jason sighed and apologized for bothering her and Mike. He explained that he had just given Mike an apology along with his phone back, adding that he would not do it again. The two men thanked her for her time and returned to the father's car parked by the curb in front of the house. Jade smiled and went up to her room to text a newly freed Mike.
