Jasmine Arrives (Sad)

The breakfast Kathryn prepared was fit for a king. But then she knew how her nephew ate. First was cereal, then came eggs sunny side up, and she finished everyone off with three pancakes each. First one to finish was Jeremy as she had guessed.

And just as she would have guessed his first words were, "What's next?"

"Between you and your father I'm surprised we don't have a food shortage, seriously." Kathryn said with a smile.

"Hey, my body needs fuel, the more the better. So long as I keep training I'm all good." Jeremy responded with a grin of his own.

Courtney smiled at him as she started in on her pancakes. In fact her eyes had barely left him through out the meal.

Jeremy looked at Courtney, then Sandy and Kathryn, "So...what did you three talk about?"

As Courtney blushed deeply the doorbell rang.

Kathryn, who had dressed in a simple sweat suit hopped up and went to answer the door. As she walked she glanced out the window again to see Jasmine and Carissa standing at the door, holding hands. Kathryn smiled broadly as she opened the door. "Jasmine, Carissa, it is so good to see you."

Jasmine smiled back at Kathryn, letting go of Carissa's hand to hug Kathryn warmly. After that Kathryn hugged Carissa as she entered the house, though for some reason Carissa didn't hug her back. In fact upon close inspection it looked as though her oldest friend had been bawling her eyes out.

"Carissa? What's wrong?" Kathryn asked and looked to her old R.A., and again she now noticed the tear streaks on her as well. "Jas? What's going on?"

Carissa spoke, slowly, tightly, "We...we thought the third time would be the charm...but...no...it happened again."

Kathryn inhaled sharply and deeply, tears coming to her own eyes as she covered her mouth with her hands.
