Jane

Jane arched an eyebrow incredulously. "This all sounds perfectly insane, but you can't pass up an opportunity like this. I'll take the shifter first."

"Jolly good" Dick said, palming the shifter as he stepped closer to the young girl. "Quite sure then?"

"Why the stall job?" She said coyly. "Your little cosmic wonder toy not up to the job."

"All my equiptment operates perfectly," Dick said, even as Suzy slapped him for the double entendre. "But once done, this cannot be undone. Are you sure you want this?"

Jane breathed slow and steady. "Yes."

"So be it." Dick said, pushing the glowing construct into the young girls chest.

She took a shuddering breath as the two extradimensional visitors faded out in much the same way they entered.

"Bro, I think I'm gonna crash." Jane mumbled as she fell face first into her bedding.
John checked his sisters pulse and pulled his sister's sleeping form into her bed before turning in himself.

Jane woke up the next morning to the sound of her mother's voice. "You kids hurry or you're gonna be late for school!"

"Why can't school start at a decent hour?" John mumbled.

"Too bad I can't just wave my hand and make it start at nine." She mumbled flapping her hand at the clock. She felt a warm throb in her chest and a twisting sensation as the wind rushed in her ears.

"It does start at nine." John mumbled into the pillow. "I have no idea why mom wants up this early."

Jane sat up in looking at her hand in wonder. "It works."

"What works?" John groaned, cracking an eye open.

"The Shifter!" She exclaimed. "It was all real bro. I just changed reality so school starts later."

"Okay sis, whatever." He muttered, rolling back over to go back to sleep. Jane frowned and turned her thoughts over in her head. Suddenly she smacked herself, realizing that John wouldn't realize the world had changed because for him it hadn't. Twisting reality once more, she insulated her brother from her changes and waited for the reaction.

"That... is so weird. It's like an echo of the way things were." John mused.

"Just at first. It gets fainter as it goes." Jane assured him.

"So what are you gonna do now?"

"Change my name to John Doe," She said with a casual wave of her hand. "and go back to bed."

John stood looking at the school building and gave reality one more good twist before she strode through the door with a smile on her face.
