Jake has a proposal.

"Good." Lindsay said as Jake returned to take their order.
The rest of lunch went fine, with the two women shooting the breeze, talking about unimportant things, reminiscing about good times they had in college and after, and whether or not Lindsay had some big surprise planned for Beth's stagette party.
The end of their leisurely lunch was spent chatting pleasantly with Jake, who seemed to have no other tables and, as it turned out, was done for the day after them.
When he brought the check, he turned to Lindsay, and shocked both ladies with the line:
"So, I'm getting off in about a half hour, after I do some side-work. Me and some friends are getting together to hang, do you two want to join me?"
Beth was flabbergasted. Lindsay just smiled as if this was all according to plan. "Why, Jacob, how ambitious of you. What sort of hanging out are we talking about?" As it turned out, Jake's friend had a boat, and they had planned to take it out for the afternoon, and then head back to Jake's place to watch the baseball game on his plasma.
Lindsay laughed. "Well that sounds like a great plan. Count me in. How about you, Beth?"
