Jake can't fall asleep again

I woke up after the recurrent dream I started to have about Sarah after prom night and looked at the clock on my phone. I had to groan when I saw that it was only 2:30 AM.

I tried to fall asleep again, but it was no use. Sighing, I got off the bed and made my way to the kitchen, figuring some water or milk could help me to sleep.

As I walked, flashes of my life in California passed through my mind. All those meaningless one-night stands and hook-ups seemed so distant now. I've seen and experienced some pretty fucked up shit where sex was concerned, but I was willing to put it behind me now that I was home again.

At the kitchen, I opened the fridge and decided to drink some milk. As I took the bottle, thoughts of Sarah once again invaded my mind.

"How is she these days?" I asked myself. "Is she married now?"

I was pulled out of my musings by the noise of someone's steps coming my way.
