Jade spots a black cat

On the way back home, Jade thought she saw a movement out of the corner of her eye. She turned around to see a thick bush shaking, and two yellow eyes glinting from within the bush, the bush providing enough darkness even in the middle of the day. She waited, and out came a black cat.

The black cat didn’t look out of the ordinary, and did nothing but look at Jade. It seemed harmless, Jade thought.

Yet, at this sight, Jade started to feel uneasy. She wasn’t really superstitious, and usually black cats didn’t bother her. However, this one was decidedly unnerving. It stared unswervingly, unwavering, unflinchingly at Jade, fixing her with a stare which nearly made the girl shiver.

It was as if the black cat was cursing her. Or it was, at the very least, a bad omen, a worrying sign of things to come...

Jade decided to turn around and continue on her way back home. That was...unsettling, to say the least. However, Jade was determined not to let it get in the way of her day.
