It doesn't start well

After the preliminaries are over the prosecutor gets to his feet and asks that your client be held without bail. You rise to respond but the judge bangs his gavel, looking at both you and the prosecutor.

"Court is adjourned. We will reconvene in one hour. I will see counsel in my chambers."

"What the fuck is going on?" your client hisses angrily. "No bail? What kind of shit is that? Go fix this you stupid bitch."

"I'm going to meet the judge," you whisper back. "Stay cool. We'll get this sorted out."

You glance back at the gallery and see you client's father glaring at you, his face a clear warning not to fail. You turn and walk towards the judges chambers, butterflies quivering in your tummy.
