His first time through High School, Rot had treated Computer Science as a joke class, spending his time looking at the girls, pulling jokes on Mr. Paldike, the instructor, and trying to figure out the code that would crash the school's PDP-8. When he'd gotten his first job, he'd realized what a mistake that had been. Now, he had a do-over. On the other hand, there were a lot of pretty girls in the class.
He looked around and... saw Wendy.
"So," she said, "have you decided on your project?"
He had a vague memory of programming some sort of bikini-girl picture, printed out by a combination of alpha characters. The project had earned him a C- and a couple of days of detention. It certainly hadn't made him popular with real living girls.
He raised his hand. "Mr. Paldike, I have a question."
Mr. Paldike rubbed the sweat off his bald head. "Yes, Rot."
"Could I do a two-person project? I'm thinking of doing a date match program but will need a female to help with the scoring."
"A standard project is at least one hundred lines of code. If two of you work together, I'll expect at least three hundred."
"Perfect." Rot turned to Wendy. "Well, we have our project. And we can make some money."
"Like I want to work with you??"
"Now that I think of it, Rene might be a better choice. She knows what girls--"
"All right, I'll do it. But you'd better have some idea how to pull this off. If you make me fail, I swear I'll cut your balls off."
"I'm thinking more about how you're going to reward me for your A." He let his gaze travel the expanse of her long legs, up to her slender waist and tiny but pointy nipples before focusing on her lips. "And I have some definite ideas."
She slugged him in the shoulder, but let her hand rest there for just a moment before pulling away.
'Nice,' he thought. 'I'm almost there.'
