It's a tough sell

"Please Rick," you say in a coy, wheedling voice, giving him a sultry smile. "You can trust me for it. Just come back tomorrow and I'll have the money."

He licks his lips and swallows, obviously making up his mind. You make an appealing face at him, certain that you can manipulate this teenager to do what you want.

"I'm sorry," he says with a voice that's suddenly firm. "All pizzas have to be paid for on delivery. Also, I have to tell you that if this is not paid for today, this address will be placed on a banned list, and no further orders will be taken from it."

You look at him with surprise, shocked at the hardness of his tone.

"But Rick, that's not necessary," you say as you shake your head and try another smile, but his face remains stern. "You could tell them I paid, and I'll have the money tomorrow."

"Sorry. No exceptions. All pizzas have to be paid for on delivery," he repeats, looking at you without smiling.

"But....oh come on Rick...it's just a few dollars....and you can trust me..." you say, suddenly blushing and stammering, embarrassed both at the situation and your inability to convince him.

"I go back there on my first day and tell them you stiffed me, they'll fire me," he says coldly. "My boss warned me about people who try this. You're paying now, or your address is banned."

"Noooo, don't be so mean," you wheedle. "Please Rick...help a girl out..."
