Chapter 300

Was everything straightened?
It's a setup
The cops loaded the girls in one fancy SUV, Matt in a second, and his mom in a third, then headed for the police station... which turned out to be in Lomita of all places. Apparently The Hill didn't have its own police **** after all. The cops were from the LA County Sheriff's office. Which definitely wasn't better.
By the time they got to the sheriff's office, though, a line of lawyers was waiting. Even if his mom had gotten through to a lawyer somewhere, Matt wouldn't have thought they'd get that kind of response.
Of course, it wasn't his mother's call that had brought those results.
A young Asian lawyer identified himself as Matt's attorney and, when Matt pressed him, admitted he'd been contacted by Mrs. Phuan.
"They'll keep you overnight," the lawyer predicted. "Not the girls, of course. Or your mom. It would embarass the cops to hold attractive women. You, on the other hand, are perfect... the poor kid invading the rich enclave with your low-class attitudes, corrupting the poor innocents."
"But I didn't do anything wrong."
The lawyer shrugged. "When it comes to child porn, juries convict first and ask for proof second. But I don't think it'll get that far. The cops get their newspaper coverage... breaking up a major child porn site. Readers get titillated with a story about a poor kid corrupting the innocents of The Hill, and then it gets forgotten. The cops make big press releases about arrests. They don't say anything about letting the people they arrest walk free in a day or so once it becomes obvious there's no evidence."
"So I'm stuck in jail."
"For now. I hear you got suspended from school anyway."
"Yeah, but I have a show to run."
The lawyer laughed. "I can't believe you got Mrs. Phuan to go on your stream. That woman is completely hot... and you somehow suckered her and her daughters into getting naked for you. So, here's the deal. If they want to ask you questions, you say nothing unless I'm there. If I am there and they ask you questions, you look at me first. If I nod, you answer. If I don't nod, you don't. And don't lie. If you can't answer a question without lying, don't answer it at all."
"Got it."
"Really? Because 99 percent of my clients think they're smarter than the cops and try to talk their way out of whatever jam they're in. Which is one reason the prisons are full of innocent people. Because nobody is innocent of everything."
Matt nodded. "Just figure out how to get me out of here, please. And thank you for representing me."
"Thank Mrs. Phuan."
"I will."
"And if you want to put in a good word for me..."
Matt laughed. "We'll see."
Did he get sprung?

The New Kid
A new town, a new school, but is it the same old you?
Matt's parents have moved to a new high-class suburb. He'll attend a new school but everyone else is rich... he's broke. Will he be an outcast, or can he find a way to make himself popular... and get laid?
