It's Charles... and dad... and the cops

You put on your boxers and head for the door... just as a hotel attendant opens it.

"What the hell?" you demand as the man you recognize from the strip club... now wearing a minister-style Roman collar shoves past the clerk and takes a swing at you.

You didn't spend enough time on self-defense for your moves to become automatic as Jackie insisted it would but for Charles's slow round strike you don't need automatic. You raise your left arm to push his punch up, step into it, and throw two elbows into his ribs... just like Jackie taught you.

"You son of a bitch." A forty-something man who came in right behind Charles stumbles back with Charles in his arms.

"What the hell are you doing in my room?" you demand again. "And why did you let them in?" That was directed to the hapless clerk.

"Uh, they said... the police..."

"Put your hands up where we can see them, sir." Four cops crowd into the room, their weapons drawn.

Oh, shit.

You raise your hands. "I'm sure you saw that this man attacked me."

"Sir. You can tell your story at the station."

"Dad, what the hell?" Charlotte has wrapped a sheet around herself. Actually, now that you look at it, she's wrapped a bloody sheet around herself.

"Are you injured, ma'am?"

"Of course I'm not injured. I was having fun with my boyfriend when these men burst into our room."

"We have a complaint that there's underage sex going on."

"I turned eighteen a week ago so you must have the wrong room."

"Charlotte, what have you done?" That was Charles who's gotten off the floor and starts toward the girl.

"Charles," you say, "I'm not going to let you touch her so back off. Yeah, the cops might shoot me but do you really want to get caught in the crossfire."

"We're in charge here," one of the cops says.

"Oh, shut up," Charles snarls. "Just arrest this punk. Charlotte, I'm very disappointed in you. You know I can't marry you now that you're impure."

"You can't marry me because I wouldn't touch you after watching your fat ass fornicating with that stripper."

"Charlotte," her dad says. "Language."

"Oh, give me a break. I noticed you didn't stop him. Were you just waiting for your turn or had you already taken it?"

"Men have needs," her dad explains. "Good women can't fulfil those needs so they turn to sinful women to meet those needs. It's the way God created humanity. You know he forgives our sins."

You think it's a little odd how some people always seem to know how easy it is for God to forgive their particular sins but not those of people who don't go to the same church... or who aren't male.

"I think it's obvious you've been used, officers," you say. "Charlotte is over the age of consent. Her abusive ex-fiance is attempting to stalk and harass her."

"Her virginity was mine and he stole it," Charles says. "If you won't shoot him, I will."

He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a pistol.

What the fuck? The cops look as confused as you do. What they don't look is ready to shoot him before he shoots you... which might be a good thing since he's standing in front of you and cop bullets would probably go right through him and kill you and Charlotte as well.
