Jonathan hovered his finger over the door close button after he recognized the voice as his mother's.

"Oh hi, Mrs. Lee!" Cindy greeted Iris after she slipped in.

"Thank you for opening the door! Oh, Dr. Chow!" Iris smiled at Cindy then noticed her son was there. "Jonathan!" She looked at the two of them and covered her mouth to try to hide her grin.

"Auntie, please just call me Cindy."

"No, you worked hard to become a doctor!" Iris shook her head. "You earned your title, Dr. Chow!"

Jonathan glanced at Cindy and shrugged.

She gave him a smirk with a subtle nod of acknowledgement.

"You look beautiful, Dr. Chow," Iris complimented.

"Thank you, Mrs. Lee," Cindy smiled, unconsciously glanced at Jonathan.

"Doesn't she, Jonathan?" Iris asked her son.

"I already told her, mom," he responded.

"Good!" she smiled at Cindy.

"It looks like we're the first ones here," Jonathan remarked, looking around the white marbled lobby. The well-dressed staff — the men in soft gray suits and ties and women in pinstripes suits and skirts -- smiled at them as they walked across the glittering mosaic floor and sat down at one of the black crescent sofas, with Iris sitting between the two young doctors.

"I am sorry you didn't get to date my son," Iris said, patting Cindy on her knee.

"Mom..." Jonathan muttered, taking out his smartphone to distract himself from his mother.

"It's okay, auntie," Cindy smiled politely. "We were both busy during medical school..."

"But maybe you can date during the next two years?" Iris insisted.

"Mom!" Jonathan raised his voice loud enough for the front desk clerks to look up from their computers and at his direction.

"Auntie, we're professionals on a scientific project so we'll be too busy to," Cindy paused for a moment to look at Jonathan before continuing, "...date. Besides, there are eleven other women."

"More reason for you two to go on a date now!" Iris smirked.

Jonathan let out a sigh and stood up. "I'm going outside for some air."

"Jonathan! I was teasing!" Iris called as she watched her son walk towards the front doors. "Aiya, he's such a sensitive boy!"

"It's okay, auntie, I'll talk to him," Cindy smiled.

"Oh yes, please do!" Iris smiled back.
