Invitation and portkey

      Since he was now the owner of this castle of mysteries, Harry was able to invite whoever he pleased. But he thought better to start small. Using his father’s invitation to him as a baseline, Harry wrote an invitation for Hermione to join him at the castle. Once he had completed the invitation, he made sure Hermione could not refuse it.

       First Harry placed a portkey charm on the invitation. In order to ensure the charm wasn’t accidentally activated by it reached Hermione, Harry added an extra component to the charm so that only Hermione’s touch could activate it. It was simmiar to the charm placed on the tri-wizard cup during his fourth year at Hogwarts. The charm worked as a one time affect, activated by the touch of a particular person.

      Now that the charm was in place, he needed to prevent tampering. Hermione had earned herself a spot at the top of her year at Hogwarts, and it wasn’t for nothing. Harry knew Hermione would easily notice the charm and dismantle it before she’d ever touch the invitation. He needed a way to dull her senses. Fortunately, the castle provided him with just such a thing. A draft of sleeping midnight. A sleep potion that would put her into an enchanted sleep for 24 hours. A few wiffs of this, and Hermione wouldn’t be able focus enough to cast even the simplest spells until the effects wore off. Carefully, Harry laced the invitation with the potion, linking the potion to the invitation’s charms, so that it would only affect Hermione. Harry slipped the invitation into an envelope and addressed it to Hermione. He then sent it out using one of the owls living in the castle’s owlery.

      All Harry had to do was wait. At any moment, Hermione would appear, completely asleep, for him to use as he wants for 24 hours. The owl returned. Moments later he heard the telltale popping that signaled an approaching portkey.
