Investigate

I began to stand up slowly, letting the ruined skirt fall away, leaving me naked from the waist down. I walked around the kitchen, taking in the strange sight before me. Everything was frozen. I slowly made my way to the window and peeked outside. I was worried that someone might see me half naked but everything outside was stopped too. The cars, the people, even the birds were frozen in the sky. It seemed that whatever had happened it had affected everyone. Everyone except me.

I stepped back from the window and made my way towards the kitchen. I took a moment to glance in the mirror. I looked normal enough, the same as before, only now I was in quite a state. As well as my skirt ripping, all the buttons on my shirt must have ripped off when I tripped. It was pretty much useless now so I decided to take it off completely.

I was now standing completely naked in the kitchen with the whole world frozen around me. I tried to go over what exactly had happened in my head. I rationalised that this must be happening because of me because I'm the only one not frozen. I started to panic, wondering if it was stuck like this forever. I paced up and down the room, the tiles cold against my bare feet.

I stopped in front of my brother "This is all your fault!" I yelled and slapped him hard across the face. His head turned slightly and the ripple from my hand stay frozen on his face.

I decided to focus on what had happened, anything strange that had happen just before time froze. It was then I remembered that my vision had shimmered slightly as I fell. That must be it.

I tried focusing on that feeling and began willing time to restart. Nothing happened. I tried again but still nothing. I was about to give up when suddenly I felt my vision shimmer again just like earlier.

I heard a rush of noise. First the tv restarted, I could hear the traffic from outside again. Immediately after that I heard Tom yelp and fall to the ground clutching his face followed by various pieces of laundry, ripped clothing and loose buttons hitting the floor.

It was this last sound that reminded me I was still standing there completely naked. I gasped and desperately scrambled for the door. I almost tripped again as I ran out the room, not stopping to collect any of my scattered clothing I climbed the stairs as fast as I could. I didn't stop until I'd reached my room and slammed the door behind me. I just hoped I'd managed to get away unseen.

I collapsed onto my bed in a naked heap and tried to figure out what had just happened.
