DID I INVESTIGATE THE LIGHT?
Investigate The Light
"It took several minutes to get from the roof to the street and several more to get to the alley. Their was no sign of the light. I walked slowly into the dark alley and reluctantly used the wall to hold me up.
My eyes were becoming used to the darkness but still couldn't make out very much. I had the feeling that this was the sort of alley that had never even heard of sunlight.
The floor was already flying towards my face as I felt the pain in the back of my neck. I lay in a pool of what I hoped was water, fading in and out of consciousness for a moment. A could feel a beam of light shining onto my face for a moment. Then their was only darkness.
In the dreamless sleep I felt movement. Their was pain, I knew, but I couldn't feel it. Then their were voices. I couldn't focus on them and the words made no sense.
'-id you -ring -m -ack her-?' said a voice.
'-t w-s I mea-t t- -o, -ll -im?' responded another.
'Y-s! Th-y ar-n't -uman -ny-ore. T-ey'-l -pe a-d -ill yo- -f th-y -et the cha-ce.' said the first voice.
'-ink -e's -omin- -round!' said a new voice.
Then their was pain again and I fell into a deeper darkness.
I could feel cold water hitting my face. Their was a constant noise, familiar... rain? Yes. I went to wipe my face but couldn't move my arms and it felt like I was kneeling. My hands were tied behind my back. I opened my eyes slowly and let the dull light enter my body. It was hard to see more than a few meters in any direction, the rain fell in sheets that obscured everything it encountered. I hadn't realised how cold I was, my face felt like it was frozen. Their was another sensation, almost numbed by the cold... I looked down and saw blood, my blood, covering my clothes and a slight red tint to water that pooled around me.
Their was a large gash in the bottom left of my shirt and, although due to the position in which I knelt I couldn't get a decent look, I knew the gash would also be present on my body. I struggled against whatever it was that I was attatched, to no avail. I felt like all my energy had expired. Everything moved so fast. When I turned my head it felt like the world had spun in the opposite direction just to keep up. And everything began to look stranger. My vision didn't fade to black like it would have in the movies; it just blurred in places and remained crystal clear in other areas. I would have vomited if I had the strength. Instead I dropped my head and leant against whatever it was I had been tied to.
I didn't fall asleep. It wasn't even full unconsciousness. It was more like my body was too tired to be awake but knew what would happen if I fell asleep and so compromised on a restless, hazey blur.
Time passed. I didn't bother thinking about what form it took, seconds and hours felt much the same and the rain had begun to fall harder and colder.
Their was something not far away, coming closer. I lifted by head slightly and saw a black blur through the rain. I tried to call out but the words didn't come.
The blur became a silhouette of a figure. A woman. I tried to look at her but my head felt like it was spinning and I couldn't focus.
She looked at me and then, after a few moments, said something that I couldn't hear. I managed for a moment to look at her eyes. Then their was only darkness.
It was a strange sensation, as if my body was floating in a black void but, when I looked down, my body wasn't really their. Their was no pain. I could see the darkness, and not as a result of a lack of light. I'm still not sure what happened to me or where I was but for the first time in I don't know how long I felt as ease with the world.
Then something invaded the void. A feeling. Not something I could feel in the void but something else... temperature...
I COULD FEEL...
