Investigate Further

Thomas came down a short set of stairs. The area was lit with several bulbs overhead, though some seemed burned out. He inventoried the items in the area as best he could.

There were a pair of large clear-walled tanks that seemed to hold the dark fluid he'd seen in the hall.

Connected to the tanks were a quartet of metal tubes with glass doors for entry and exit, each one large enough to hold a person, plus a little extra space. A drain at the bottom appeared to lead to a pipe that went back to the latex containers.

A workbench was across the room, with the standard array of tools present. A large barreled "gun" sat on the bench, a tank of the dark material attached to the bottom, along with a spool of wire on a spindle--all of that hung down on the rifle-like gun, sort of like an ammo clip. More of the odd colored wire was on spools on the bench.

Next to the workbench was a desk. The desk held a computer that appeared to be from the 1980s, and a number of small old school hard disks that would fit in a slot in the computer. The computer would not turn on, however, and a cursory look at it showed it was plugged in. Something must be wrong with it. Moving the disks did reveal an old lab book under them.

He also saw a second and third passageway leading out of the area.
