Introduction to Elder Pearl

The Boomer guard led Madeline to a rickety looking, but still standing, military style building. Inside was a women whose age looked ancient. Rarely had she seen anyone in the wastes this old. In the vault, people lived longer than in the harsh wastes. This place must have had some stability.

"Welcome outsider." the old woman croaked " I am Pearl, the elder for our peoples. Who are you? What brings you here? We rarely get anyone here who can survive our bombardment."

"I am Madeline. I am here on behalf of my people and I come seeking a deal with the New California Republic."

"The NCR?"

Madeline nodded.

"What do those people want?" she scoffed.

"They want your help against Caesar's Legion." Madeline said "There is a great battle coming and they know your firepower is great."

"They would use our power then what? Turn their armies against us." Pearl said, crossing her arms defensively.

"They will agree to allow you to keep your lands. They just want to deal with Caesar's Legion."

"Hmmmmmm." Pearl stroked her chin.

"If the Legion breaks out of Hoover Dam, do you think they will let you be? They will roll in here and be worse than any thing the NCR could do. And you know it." Madeline said pointedly.

"Our reports of the Legion do seem to agree with that statement."

After some time of discussing the terms of help, the benefits of the NCR, and the aid to be given Pearl gave Madeline her demands.

"If you can convince my fellow Boomers that you are trustworthy I will allow you to help us. Convince us that you are worthy to help retrieve our most powerful weapon."

"What weapon?" Madeline asked.

"On the bottom of the Lake here, Lake Mead there lies a holy artifact. A machine that can fly. An old bomber from before the war. We can raise it and then drop terror on the Legion."

"I suppose I can try to earn your trust. I will do my best to prove that you can work with the NCR." Madeline said with a nod, extending her hand out to shake.

Pearl shook her hand.

"Very well." Pearl said "Now, see how you can earn our trust." And she showed her the door.
