Interruption: the phone rings

Before you can say anything, the room phone rings loudly. You stride over to pick it up and say, "Hello?"

"Yo, John, it's Trevor." You can hear lots of loud conversations going on in the background, and surmise that he's still at work.

"Hey man, what's going on?"

"Listen, is Wendy with you?" Trevor asks.

You think about lying in case she's in trouble, but this is your buddy Trevor. He's not going to put you in a bad situation.

"Yeah, we're at my room, getting ready to head over to the Alpha Beta Potato party."

"Right on. Is she within earshot?"

"No, she's taking a quick shower," you reply. "What's this all about, man?"

"Okay, I wanted to give you a heads up before you left, but you guys ducked out quickly. Wendy is really into you, and apparently she's into your friends, too. I know she's bi for sure, and Penelope (another waitress) told me that you were gonna get lucky tonight. Just wanted you to make sure you've got your head in the right place."

You laugh and say, "Trevor, you are the best friend a guy could have. I owe you big time, man. Anytime I can help you out, you just say the word."
