Ignored!

Marissa confidently began her run, feeling the excitement between her legs with every stride.

Closer, closer, almost there. Don't look eager, give them a casual glance... Wait for them to stop you, any moment now. Any moment. Now, dammit..... Okay, maybe now...

Marissa's confident steps faltered as she moved farther from them, and finally she looked back, expecting them to wave her over, but instead she saw them call over a butt-ugly chick and her toad-spawn friend.

A crashing wave of humiliation and disappointment washed over her. She stared back at them lost and confused for a long long moment. Even when the girls left their eyes went right past her like she wasn't there as they looked for their next target.

Crushed, she wandered without purpose over to a nearby bulletin board, seeking it out as an excuse for her to be walking there. Anything to salvage her pride. Notices for room-mates and clubs and parties decorated the wall, as well as official notices advising safety and safe sex. She snorted at that one. As if she'd ever have sex again, she thought, her slender shoulders sagging in despair.

"God, I can't believe they talked to us. I mean, I thought for sure they'd ignore us." the butt-ugly girl giggled to her friend as they slowly walked behind Marissa.

"I was so scared they'd ignore us. I mean, it'd be so humiliating to be the only girls they didn't approach. You gonna call them?" Toad-spawn asked.

The two laughed in a breathy, excited way, saying a few things that Marissa, deep in her humiliation, didn't hear. Finally the two departed, but not before they pinned the card they'd been given to the board.

Marissa held her breath, staring at it like it was a lifeline. But could she do it? Could she swallow her pride and ignore the fact that they'd turned their noses up at her? Could she humiliated herself and call them instead?
