Ignore him and go back inside.

"Yeah, I'm something else all right. Listen, we can talk later, I have something to take care of right now."

He looks at you, and for a second it feels like you can't move, and you don't know why. Were you going to do something? You suddenly don't remember...

You blink, and your vision clears. He looks away from you. "Well, I'm not going to make you listen to what I have to say. Come see me when you've got a chance."

The feeling passes. What feeling was that? Eh, you probably imagined the whole thing. Anyway, you're not going to let those two crazy telepathy people treat you like that, beat you up and throw you out onto the street.

You turn around, and storm back in. "Listen, Kristy Chan, I've got half a mind to call the police right now and report you and your friend for ****."

Kristy’s face turns red with anger. "How dare you. Who do you think you are? You come in here and waste our time with a fraud, and then you attack my assistant, and…”

Her assistant reaches out and touches her on the arm, and when she pauses for a second, he cuts in with a comment of his own, in a very different tone.. "Um, how did you know Kristy’s name, anyway?"

You stop and think for a second. How do you know her name? And then you remember.

"Oh, that’s right, you called her by name just before you bastards threw me out. Here I come in just to take a test, and you stupid…"

He cuts you off. "I called her Kristy, but I never mentioned her last name."

"Look, I dunno, alright? I’ve got no time for your stupid telepathy guessing games with your four of clubs and your…"

He blinks. "That was the card."

"Huh?"

"That was the card you were trying to guess before. It was actually a four of clubs."

"Wait…huh?" Real intelligent response, you think to yourself. "So what does that mean?"

Kristy looks at her assistant, and they nod. "You might be a latent."

"A latent?"

"A latent is a person who has some kind of psychic ability, but who doesn’t really know how to use it. Do you ever get hunches about people?"

"Umm…yeah, I suppose."

"Are they usually correct?"

"Well…" you think for a second "Well, yeah, I guess so, I am pretty good at reading people."

"Hmmm…"

She asks you several other questions. She starts to take notes, and to look more and more interested.

"Okay, look," she finally says, "I think you might be a latent telepath. I know we got off to a bad start, but if you’re willing to give us another try, we would like to run some tests."

"Riiiight…more tests. Why should I?"

"Well, for one thing, with some more practice you might get more control over your latent abilities...get better at reading people’s minds."

Hmmm….this just became a lot more interesting…
