IIA. Gods and Ancestors

The Church of Jocasta is a polytheistic religion, similar to that of the Ancient Greeks. The Church believes that the head God and Goddess are the ascended forms of Oedipus and Jocasta, with all other gods and demigods serving below them. Oedipus is the King Deity, and god of all Alphas; a reflection of how every alpha should live his life. Jocasta is the Queen Deity, and the goddess of all Mothers.

Eve and Cain of the Judeo-Christian bible are also considered divine figures. Their story was the subject of an important theological debate among the founding members of the Church of Jocasta who followed the Abrahamic faiths. If Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, and Eve gave birth to Cain and Abel, then it is reasonable to ask: who did Cain procreate with? Jocastan scholars argue that the obvious answer is that Cain took Eve as his wife, and that she became mother to both him and his children. The Jocastan Bible also says that Cain never murdered Abel: in truth, Cain was the first Alpha, and simply did not allow Abel (or his father Adam) to mate with Eve. Thus the first man became the first Beta, alongside his dutiful wife and less-fortunate son.

The final divine figures I will note are Lot and his daughters. In the original story from the Old Testament, Lot and his family are saved from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. While fleeing, Lot's wife is turned into a pillar of salt. Lot ends up sleeping with his daughters, and that was the origin of a new nation. Unsurprisingly, the Jocastan Bible tells the story differently. In this version, Sodom and Gomorrah were considered wicked for punishing ****. Lot was spared because he was destined to form a new nation through the act of inbreeding with his daughters, who would later become his wives, then wives to their offspring. Today, an Alpha is considered to be continuing the divine good by procreating with daughters born from **** with his mother, sisters, and other female relatives.
