"Can you drop them off now for me? I may as well do something while I'm cooped up at home."

"OK, no problem." Lucy paused for a moment. "Hey Boss. I know it's short notice, but do you think there's any chance I could have the rest of the day off after I drop these to you?"

"That's not like you. Is everything alright?" you asked.

Lucy sighed. "Not really. I had a huge fight with my boyfriend last night, and he stormed out. I'm sorry for bringing up my personal life in work, but it was pretty bad. I think we might break up."

Well that's not the worst thing in the world. Dude's punching well above his weight with you.

"Sorry to hear that. Of course you can take the time you need. You can make it up some other time. I'm not going anywhere today if you want to talk about it when you get here."

"That's so sweet of you," Lucy said. "You're obviously one of the good ones. I'll grab those files and be round in about an hour if that's OK?"

An hour to get yourself in order sounded doable. "Sure. See you soon."
