“And you are gonna be the other male judge, right?” Kyle asks, as if the answer were obvious.

To be honest, I gave it a lot of consideration. My folks even encouraged me, telling me it could be a publicity boost for the studio: “The son of Jack Meoff and Lusty Love makes his professional debut with Cum On Productions.”

But the reality is that I will have my hands full with my responsibilities, and I can’t take a full month off from them — even to be locked in a house with sex-crazed girls.

“No, that’s not gonna work,” I explain. “We need a professional in there, so I’m sending our Audition Coordinator, Virgil Gearman. He will be able to add the professional perspective to the evaluations. I think it will be good, plus he was more than eager to take it on.”

The next few days are spent making sure everything is ready. Kyle, Tess and Sally are briefed by Virgil about the things he looks for during auditions. Kyle makes a show of listening, but I can tell he’s only picturing the countless ways he will evaluate the contestants.

We are just a couple of days from the beginning of production when Tess and Sarah come to me, looking troubled. I ask them what’s the matter.

“All this is well and good,” says Sally, “but what if we get in there, and just the knowledge that there are cameras recording us causes us to freeze? It would be too late to find someone else as a judge, and all this would be wasted.”

They make a good point. What we need to do is a test, under production standards. Maybe a dress rehearsal? No... how do you rehearse for a reality show?

I think about it and smile. “I have an idea.”
