I decided that based upon our past conversations Mary Beth would be the most likely woman for me to have success with. We were the same age, and there was a spark there that I could hopefully fan into a flame. I called her up and asked her to have lunch with me today. She responded cheerfully that she would “love to” and I set my plan in motion. I took her to a little Italian restaurant that was near our office and after we had talked small talk for a little bit I threw out my first question that was designed to get me what I wanted, “So how is Mike? Has he been home anymore lately?”
I saw a cloud pass over her smiling face and knew I had touched on something, “No he just takes on more and more work. He is in Seattle for the next two weeks, and I am left home all alone.
