Chapter 9
by Alum
What should we do now?
I'm still tired from the trip.
I went and showed Kori my yurt. She walked in through the bearskin door and then looked at the few personal items I had there, including a stone bed covered in plenty of furs and blankets.
She plopped down on the bed and then laid there with her arms splayed out. She looked over at me when I sat in a chair at my stone desk and leaned over it. She was a quiet girl when she wasn't doing work. I guess she didn't have much on her mind. But she spoke! "Rohland, don't make me have to investigate you." she said to me and her face was staring straight up.
"What do you mean?" I ask and then turn to her.
"You've got to tell me everything... I know, I loved you since back then, or well had a crush or something..." she said with a cute blush on her face, "but you already know what little about me there is." she was right. She is Kori Alma Sunrider, daughter of Jone and Ferris Sunrider, two of the founders of the city Nyx on Shiv. She was a detective because of her grandfather's stories of the old gumshoes from Earth, the men and women who could solve any crime that had taken place anywhere with just the little they had on hand.
"I'm just a soldier," I replied, "My mom and dad were the Nutainian Protectors that helped liberate Kronos and then re-allied with the Federation ensuring that peace would strive on this vitally important planet." I continued with a sigh, "That's all who I am. I know we both went to the Academy, but you were a year behind me."
She gave a blank look to the ceiling, "You idiot." she turned furious, "I meant what you like."
Oh. Well I got up and stood over her. "You." it was plain and simple, and she blushed furiously.
Well I couldn't feel tired now I leaned over her and then spoke silently, "You are the only thing I very much love." I kissed her and fell over her. We were like so till a rock was thrown through my window. Kori jumped and knocked me in the head making me keel over and fall off the bed. She picked up the rock with the note on it. It was from dad.
It read, "Time for the party!... P.S. How do you like my text message?" he had a phone and I didn't know about it!
Kori giggled slightly and then just busted out laughing.
What to do now?
